This is something I link to from my LinkedIn profile to make sure recruiters actually read my profile rather than just include me in mass recruiter spam.

1. Hey Recruiters! Read this!
2. I Get Lots of Recruiter E-mail •  Most of it comes from algorithms matching buzzwords, and people don’t even read my profile. •  I think that’s inconsiderate, and I’ll usually block recruiters that include me in mass recruiter spam.
3. Set Yourself Apart! •  All LinkedIn e-mail goes directly to my trash via filters with one exception. •  This slide deck will tell you what that exception is! •  Then your e-mail will go directly to me, and I’ll actually read it.
4. Take Note! •  I’m not interested in any of the following positions: – Engineering work totally outside of the JVM •  Good: Java, Scala, Groovy •  Bad: Go, Ruby, Python –  (Dabbling in non-JVM languages is fine, just not as the primary technology) – Work that requires relocating •  Good: Downtown Denver, Boulder or Fully Remote •  Bad: Denver Tech Center, Bay Area – Contract or contract-to-hire positions
