The Barthel scale is a type of scale used to assess performance in daily activities (ADL). On this scale, each performance item is rated, with a certain number of points assigned to each level or ranking. It employs ten variables to describe ADL and mobility. A higher number indicates a greater likelihood of being able to live at home with some independence after being discharged from the hospital.
