Alon Rosin

Alon Rosin has earned recognition through nearly three decades of experience in institutional trading, derivatives strategy, and portfolio management. He currently serves as Managing Director and Head of US Institutional Equity Derivatives at Oppenheimer & Co., overseeing the firm’s institutional derivatives operations and advising buy-side firms on listed equity options and complex market strategies amid evolving financial conditions.

Alon developed a distinctive market perspective through his extensive background on both the buy and sell sides of the investment world. Before leading institutional sales and derivatives businesses on Wall Street, he spent years inside hedge funds as a portfolio manager and senior trader. This combination gave him a firsthand understanding of investor psychology, liquidity management, market volatility, and institutional risk exposure.

Alon graduated Cum Laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. During his time at Wharton, he also achieved Dean’s List recognition in both 1995 and 1996. After completing his studies, he joined the Sales and Trading training program at Salomon Brothers, beginning his career during a period marked by fast-moving institutional markets and rapid industry transformation.

Alon expanded his investment and trading expertise through positions at firms such as J. Goldman & Co. and Diamondback Capital. As a portfolio manager and senior trader, he worked directly with risk management, market positioning, and trading execution under demanding market conditions. Those years on the buy side later strengthened his ability to connect with institutional clients, as he fully understood the pressures they faced.

Alon later joined BGC Partners, where he became Head of Institutional Sales for Derivatives and Equities in the Americas. In that role, he worked closely with institutional investors while helping expand the firm’s institutional trading presence. His ability to combine technical derivatives knowledge with relationship-driven leadership made him a respected figure among sophisticated market participants and large institutional trading organizations.

Alon has played an important role in growing Oppenheimer’s institutional equity derivatives platform and in strengthening relationships with buy-side firms. He advises institutional investors on volatility analysis, exposure management, and execution strategies for listed options across different market environments. One of the major developments during his tenure involved co-leading the acquisition of Guggenheim’s options desk, which significantly expanded the derivatives team and platform capabilities.

Alon has also attracted public attention for his market commentary during periods of heightened volatility. In April 2025, he gained recognition after encouraging investors to cover shorts near what later became the low point of the DJT Tariff Tantrum market decline. Many observers viewed the call as evidence of his experience navigating difficult market cycles and identifying opportunities amid widespread uncertainty and fear.

Alon Rosin remains active in charitable and community-related initiatives outside the finance industry. Over the years, he has quietly supported numerous philanthropic causes and events while maintaining a strong commitment to personal relationships and professional excellence. Outside of work, he enjoys golf, tennis, skiing, padel, and international travel. Friends and colleagues often describe him as disciplined, competitive, and deeply focused on long-term connections.
