CTO Martijn de Vries talked on "OpenStack + AWS, HPC (aaS), and GPUs - a Pragmatic Guide" about clouds (OpenStack and AWS), using them for HPC/Machine Learning (with GPUs), cloud bursting, dynamic cluster extension, Cluster on Demand (COD) and clusters extended to public (AWS/Azure) clouds, as well as bare metal Cluster on Demand with OpenStack Ironic (bare metal GPUs).

Bio: Martijn de Vries is responsible for Bright's software development, leading this function from Bright's Amsterdam office. Prior to Bright Computing, Martijn was head of software development at ClusterVision, where he led the creation of an innovative cluster management platform. ClusterVision spun off Bright as a separate entity in 2009. Martijn taught distributed programming in the Computer Science department at Hanze Polytechnic in the Netherlands and programmed for the New York-based internet startup Shop.com. He holds a M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the University of Groningen in The Netherlands.
