Welcome to “Chinese provinces”, the memrise course which will teach you in a few short hours the names and location of all 34 of China’s provinces and regions. Let’s begin by taking a quick look at a map of China.

This map of China features the “Two dragons” of the Yellow river (north) and Yangtze river (south). They are going to feature heavily in this course, so it is a good idea to get to know them well.

Looks tough, right? Don’t worry. Before you know it you’ll remember all of them! But first we are going to learn a few very common Chinese geography words. 江 Jiang; Means “river”, in particular it refers to the 长江，the mighty Yangtze river. 河 He; Also means “river”, but this one refers to the 黄河，the Yellow river. 湖 Hu; Means lake, in this context it refers to the Dongting lake, the huge floodplain of the Yangtze in central China. 海 Hai; means sea. 山 Shan; means mountain.
