Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
• Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a structured therapeutic approach designed to help
individuals manage intense emotions, stress, and anxiety. Originally developed to treat
borderline personality disorder, DBT has proven effective for a wide range of mental health
issues. It combines cognitive-behavioural strategies with mindfulness principles, emphasizing
skills like emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness.
By learning these skills, individuals gain tools to handle overwhelming emotions and navigate
challenging situations. DBT encourages a balance between acceptance and change, empowering
individuals to respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively, promoting a healthier, more
resilient mindset.
