Promoting IIR's research activities and collaboration with companies With the mission of creating new research fields, promoting interdisciplinary research, solving the problems of human society, and fostering the foundation for future industries, the IIR’s Industry-academia Collaboration strives to promote joint research on specific issues faced by society and businesses, and to create long-lasting organization-to-organization joint research and partnerships (Collaborative Research Clusters, Collaborative Research Programs, etc.) that focus on larger-scale themes. The IIR will serve as a gateway connecting IIR faculty members active in a wide range of research fields with industry, and as a springboard for the development of individual research into large-scale projects. It will continue to fulfill its role in cooperation with the Office of Research and Innovation, the Research Development Center, the Center for Innovation Management, and other related departments.
