MAGNETIC LEVEL GAUGES MAGNETIC LEVEL GAUGES manufactured By KLINGER Limited Perth Western Australia

Slide 3

Slide 3 text

MAGNETIC LEVEL GAUGES Klinger manufactured their first magnetic level gauge in Europe in 1981. Australian manufacture commenced in 1993. Klinger and their licensees produce in excess of 3500 magnetic level gauges per year.

MAGNETIC LEVEL GAUGES MAGNETIC LEVEL GAUGE Operating principle On the dry side of the chamber is the Indicator, a display of magnetic wafers (red/white). As the float moves up or down the magnetic field of the permanent magnet pulls the wafers through a rotation of 180° thus changing their colour. As the float rises the flaps are turned from white to red, as the float falls, they are changed back to white again. The level is represented at any given wafer without any external power supply. The instrument consists of 3 main parts The Float The Chamber The Indicator

MAGNETIC LEVEL GAUGES For corrosive applications, we can : 1. Use PP, PVDF or UPVC plastic floats for low temperature low pressure applications 2. Use PFA, PVDF, HALAR or Carbon coated stainless steel and titanium floats for higher temperature and higher pressure applications THE FLOAT MATERIALS OF CONSTRUCTION

Slide 17

Slide 17 text

MAGNETIC LEVEL GAUGES THE FLOAT To enable us to design a float, we need the following information : 1. Pressure 2. Media and concentration 3. Temperature 4. Specific gravity For interface applications , we need the following additional information : 1. Both media 2. Both specific gravities

MAGNETIC LEVEL GAUGES ‘LevelSure’ NEW PRODUCT Combined Magnetic Level Indicator and Guided Wave Radar

Slide 42

Slide 42 text

MAGNETIC LEVEL GAUGES ‘LevelSure’ NEW PRODUCT Guided wave radar – microwave pulses are transmitted along a waveguide suspended from the top of the measuring chamber. As the pulses come in contact with the media they are reflected back along the waveguide and are detected at the electronics in the headshell. The time elapsed is measured to determine the liquid level with a measurement accuracy of +- 3mm
