Slide 2 text

Mechanism of BCI ● To understand BCI – understand the Human Brain. ● BCI mechanism is all about Neurology and Electroencephalography.

Slide 3

Slide 3 text

Architecture of Brain – The Neurons ● Huge count of them (80-200 billion) connected with a high degree of connectivity (100-500 trillion). ● Every Neuron has a potential (in mV) that varies with our thought. This potential is the means of communication between Neurons. ● Clusters – Depending upon the application and design topography for ease of analysis.

Electroencephalography (EEG) ● EEG is a measure of brain waves. ● Measures voltage fluctuations resulting from ionic current within the neurons of the brain. ● Used to evaluate brain disorders, results of brain seizures and coma e.t.c. Can now be used in BCI.

How does it work? ● Thinking in Brain ● Reading Brain by EEG ● Analysis of EEG spectrum (Cluster-to-pattern mapping) ● Recognizing EEG spectrum ● Converting into suitable computer signal ● Sending the signals to computer system ● Feedback to User
