Facing the Sakrat “Every soul will taste death” (Surah Ali ‘Imran 3:185) 

What is Sakratul Maut? Derived from the word ‘ ﺳ َ ﻛ ْ ر َ ة ’ which linguistically means ‘intoxication or unconsciousness’ Agony of death: a situation of pain, endurances, weakness, difficulty, in between state of conscious and unconsciousness which one faces during the moments of the soul departing the body Sakratul Maut ADIL Knowledge Retreat | 27 March 2020 

During Sakratul Maut ﻓ ﹶ ﻠ ﹶ ﻮ % ﻟﹶ ﺎ ﺇﹺ ﺫ ﹶ ﺍ ﺑ- ﻠ ﹶ ﻐ - ﺖ 0 ﺍ ﻟﹾ ﺤ 3 ﻠ ﹾ ﻘ ﹸ ﻮ ﻡ - Then why, when the soul at death reaches the throat (Surah Al-Waqi‘ah 56:83) ﻭ - ﻟﹶ ﻮ % ﺗ- ﺮ - ﻯ ٰ ﺇﹺ ﺫ 0 ﺍ ﻟ ﻈ ﱠ ﺎ ﻟ0 ﻤ 3 ﻮ ﻥ ﹶ ﻓ 0 ﻲ ﻏ ﹶ ﻤ - ﺮ - ﺍ ﺕ 0 ﺍ ﻟﹾ ﻤ - ﻮ % ﺕ 0 ﻭ - ﺍ ﻟﹾ ﻤ - ﻠ ﹶ ﺎ ﺋ0 ﻜ ﹶ ﺔ ﹸ ﺑ- ﺎ ﺳ 0 ﻄ ﹸ ﻮ ﺍ ﺃﹶ ﻳ% ﺪ 0 ﻳ ﻬ ﹺ ﻢ % ﺃﹶ ﺧ % ﺮ ﹺ ﺟ 3 ﻮ ﺍ ﺃﹶ ﻧ ﻔ ﹸ ﺴ - ﻜ ﹸ ﻢ 3 And if you could but see when the wrongdoers are in the overwhelming pangs of death while the angels extend their hands, [saying], "Discharge your souls! During Sakratul Maut ‘Aisyah r.a. reported that There was a leather or wood container full of water in front of Allah's Messenger s.a.w. (at the time of his death). He would put his hand into the water and rub his face with it, saying, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah! No doubt, death has its stupors." Then he raised his hand and started saying, “(O Allah!) with the highest companions." (and kept on saying it) till he passed away and his hand dropped.“ (Narrated by Al-Bukhari) ADIL Knowledge Retreat | 27 March 2020 

Reducing Pain of Sakratul Maut ‘Aisyah r.a. reported that I saw the Messenger of Allah s.a.w. when he was at the point of death. He had a drinking bowl with water in it. He would dip his hand into the bowl, and wipe his face. Then he would supplicate, "O Allah! Help me over pangs and agony of death." (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi) ADIL Knowledge Retreat | 27 March 2020 

The Barzakh A barrier between the world and the akhirah 

… ﻭ - ﻣ 0 ﻦ ﻭ - ﺭ - ﺍ ﺋ0 ﻬ ﹺ ﻢ ﺑ- ﺮ % ﺯ - ﺥ W ﺇﹺ ﻟﹶ ﻰ ٰ ﻳ- ﻮ % ﻡ ﹺ ﻳ3 ﺒ% ﻌ - ﺜﹸ ﻮ ﻥ ﹶ “…and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected.” (Surah Al-Mu’minun 23:100) ‘Uthman r.a. said: Indeed Rasulullah s.a.w. said: “Indeed the grave is the first stage among the stages of the Hereafter. So if one is saved from it, then what comes after it is easier than it. The Favors & Affliction in Barzakh ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar reported that Allah's Messenger s.a.w. said, "When anyone of you dies, he is shown his place both in the morning and in the evening. If he is one of the people of Paradise; he is shown his place in it, and if he is from the people of the Hell-Fire; he is shown his place there-in. Then it is said to him, 'This is your place till Allah resurrect you on the Day of Resurrection." (Narrated by Al-Bukhari) ADIL Knowledge Retreat | 27 March 2020 

The Favors & Affliction in Barzakh “They receive good tidings of favor from Allah and bounty and [of the fact] that Allah does not allow the reward of believers to be lost” (Surah Ali ‘Imran 3:171) They will be exposed to the fire in the mornings and the evenings and on the Day of Judgment, they will be told, “People of the Pharaoh, suffer the most severe torment.” (Surah Ghafir 40:46) ADIL Knowledge Retreat | 27 March 2020

Seeking Refuge in Allah 

ﻭ " ﻣ $ ﻨ& ﻬ ( ﻢ ﻣ * ﻦ ﻳ" ﻘ ﹸ ﻮ ﻝ ﹸ ﺭ " ﺑ$ ﻨ" ﺎ ﺁ ﺗ) ﻨ" ﺎ ﻓ ) ﻲ ﺍ ﻟ ﺪ / ﻧ1 ﻴ" ﺎ ﺣ " ﺴ " ﻨ" ﺔ ﹰ ﻭ " ﻓ ) ﻲ ﺍ ﻟﹾ ﺂ ﺧ ) ﺮ " ﺓ ) ﺣ " ﺴ " ﻨ" ﺔ ﹰ ﻭ " ﻗ ) ﻨ" ﺎ ﻋ " ﺬ ﹶ ﺍ ﺏ " ﺍ ﻟ ﻨ$ ﺎ ﺭ ﹺ But among them is he who says, “Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:201) ADIL Knowledge Retreat | 27 March 2020
