Current state of the online docs • http://prototypejs.org/api/ • 95% up to date on 1.6.0.2 • Needs more examples • Needs more diverse backend examples • PHP, Rails, Java EE (Servlets, JSP, JSF…), ASP.NET… • Needs a great Getting Started (set of) resource(s) • Needs cross-links between API and tutorial stuff 

As for offline doc… • Community members maintain offline exports of the online API reference (hats off!) • PDF, CHM, etc. • A few books, 2 of which are recent and up to date
