Automotive HMI The Autmotive Human Machine Interface (HMI) is the medium through which users can interact with the various features and functionalities of their automobile as well as receive various feedback from it to gain better understanding of its workings.

Slide 3

Slide 3 text

The Main parts of the HMI are : 1. The Instrument Cluster 2. The infotainment Panel Automotive HMI

Car are becoming more of Digital Gadgets / CE Products, having more electronics than Mechanical aspects Evolution of Infotainment system

Slide 7

Slide 7 text

From the conception of the car itself, users and manufacturers alike have felt the need to integrate cutting edge technology. This led to the addition of the Radio and subsequently Casette players, CD and DVD players in the infotainments system, as well as refinements to the Instrument Cluster What was HMI like?

The car is ceasing to be a highly specialized product. User trends and needs point towards the autmobile opening up its domain to the integration and synchronization with the user’s various other devices. Like many other appliances, The Automobile too will become part of the internet of things (IoT) “App”ization in car

Slide 25

Slide 25 text

Opening up of the domain will lead to greater innovation, better development of the HMI and a better overall experience Users will be able to choose what features and feedback they would want to have in their cars. This would make for a better, more personal and comfortable user experience Automotive apps & customization

Slide 26

Slide 26 text

Synchroninzation with the user’s phone or tablet is currently a major point of focus Areas like remotely controling the cars features through the user’s phone, and even the phone’s features through the car are being explored Specialized apps for your car can be downloaded to your phone and your car can be controlled by it Car control with other devices
