Question 1- In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products 

For my documentary I chose to focus on the educating series for inspiration as they are in Britain one of the most popular if not the most popular school documentary. This helped perfectly as my documentary was also about school. When analysing episodes of educating Essex I noticed how they use interviews very frequently and are also all done in midshot I mimicked this a lot in my own documentary I think its effective as it looks professional and also with a midshot you can really notice facial expressions and emotion more from the interviewee. Another aspect I copied was the narration this is something very prevalent in the educating series so I made very prevalent in mine describing and explaining to the viewer everything what is happening along with shots of the school 

However I also challenged the codes and conventions as unlike the educating series what focuses on school in general I made my documentary about sixth from specifically and also specifically tackling the stress of it the reason I did this as with such a short runtime I couldn’t cover a whole school generally like a half an hour episode of educating Essex so once I made it way more grounded and specific I could make a better narrative, pace and structure of a documentary with my runtime 

This also is done with my advertisements which I made. I researched the advertisements made for the educating series and then used what I liked best as direct inspiration for my own advertisements for example I noticed how simplistic they were with nearly all of them being a crop out of the students and head teacher of the school against a background of either custom design or the school with the masthead on top which I believe represents to a person viewing the advertisement that this show focuses on the people/characters front and fore most.
