Slide 2

Slide 2 text

DELIVERING CONTENT You have - or should have the content. Now the question is - how do you deliver it?

Slide 3

Slide 3 text

DELIVERING CONTENT I had content to deliver and this is what I found.

Slide 4

Slide 4 text

DELIVERING CONTENT My original content: 166 main written messages about 20 supporting articles The content was my story that unfolded during a period of extreme grief I had been experiencing.

DELIVERING CONTENT The original essay content was compiled in 8 pdf f iles. I created a web site to house them in December, 2019. In June, 2020 the site was re-cast to the name “Facing Grief - The Essays” The Facing Grief web site as it is today

DELIVERING CONTENT So how did it go as text-based? In 2020 some found the material. Again it is about grief so it’s not your “normal” content. Not dramatic views in any way. 2021 had minimal visitors.

DELIVERING CONTENT How about video? Only some essays would transfer well to video. Several were built. The effort - too labor intensive. And the You Tube channel? No one noticed! Here’s an essay as a video

DELIVERING CONTENT How about slide decks? Here’s an essay as a slide deck. The content had a tough time becoming visual like video. A lot of effort for minimal views although some were from foreign countries.

DELIVERING CONTENT Finally, the last attempt was really a by-product of a technique I used to deal with my grief. Verbalizing the written essays was a great help in dealing with the issues of loss. Saying out loud what is written provided a great deal of comfort in the long run. The audio option.

Slide 11

Slide 11 text

DELIVERING CONTENT The audio option. Over 60 essays had been narrated. Groups of essays were initially identi f ied for a weekly release. Each Wednesday a new podcast was available on the SoundCloud. Here’s an essay as a podcast.

Slide 12

Slide 12 text

DELIVERING CONTENT The audio option. There has been a consistent audience over time. This is without any promotion with an obscure topic.

Slide 13

Slide 13 text

DELIVERING CONTENT The audio option. What is interesting is the location of the listeners. They are from everywhere!

Slide 14

Slide 14 text

DELIVERING CONTENT The conclusion is obvious! The spoken word is it. Of course promotion and marketing will make a big difference for you. But for a person not doing any of that - my informal case study shows a podcast is the way to go!

Slide 15

Slide 15 text

DELIVERING CONTENT The essay “Calling” in it’s various formats: The various presentations The written essay “Calling” on the essaysongrief.org web site “Calling” as a video on You Tube The essay “Calling” as a Slide-deck on Slideshare As an audio podcast on SoundCloud

DELIVERING CONTENT Postscript. Twelve essays have been packaged as “Facing Grief - Selected Essays” and published to Apple Books in March, 2022. It is obvious that an audio book will be next!
