 Creat custom data entry froms.  Use drop downs, check boxes, raido buttons…  Set controls on the fields  Set min/max, require certain fields, set fields to all caps….  Only show certain fields in the form  Field like the objectID field that is generated by ArcMap can be turned off in the form so not to confuse the user.

 Start with a shapefile  Can be a point, line or a polygon  Needs to have an attribute fields for the tabular data you want to collect  If you want to take pictures you will need a PHOTO field

 Open ArcPad Studio  It is installed with ArcPad  In the ArcGIS folder in programs list

 Click New layer definintion project - ok

 Navigate to your shapefile and click open

 List Values Tab  Add values from .dbf  Type in the list  Click ok

 In the same location of the shapefiles there will now be a .apl file. This file must stay with the shapefile. This is the file ArcPad will use for the QuickForm.
