What is our mission? 

God’s Mission Reconciliation Salvation Glorification 

Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father sent Me, I also send you.” - John 20:21 

The first part of our mission is to join God in His. 

The second part of our mission is “to make the invisible kingdom, visible.” - J.I. Packer 

The Church’s Mission Matthew 24:14 Matthew 28:18-20 

Matthew 28:18-20 As you are going _______ Make disciples _______ Baptize them _______ Teach them to obey _______ God is with us _______ 

As we stay “on mission”, we join in God’s mission and bring His Kingdom here. 

2 things to remember: 

The mission gets messy. The church is not for pretty perfect people, but for the lost, hurt, and dirty. 

The mission gets messy. John 8:1-11 John 5:1-15 Matthew 16:13-18 

When we embrace the messiness of our reality, something amazing happens: 

The mission expands! 

Jerusalem Judea Samaria World “... and you will be My witnesses...” Acts 1:8 

The mission starts at home, and then grows. 

Neighborhoods City Nation World And we are His witnesses! 

“9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10
