Go to Github.com and open an account.
It’s free if you use only public repositories.
(A “repository” is basically a project.)

Go to the repositories tab in your profile,
and hit the green “New” button
to open a new repository.

If you are really interested in open-source
collaboration, leave it public and hit the
green create repository button.

Click on the README link

Now you can start typing a description of
your project in the black area. The README
file gives an overview of the project.

You can follow other people or projects,
by hitting the watch button.
For example, I am “watching” the
medevice-users diabetes group
