fromTeal An app for building Teal Organizations enabling people to work on what they love & make a living out of it

Slide 2

Slide 2 text

The problem • fromTeal is trying to address the pain of people who are working for someone else & spending their days doing work that they hate, instead of realizing themselves & their dreams, doing what they love & fulfilling their true potential

Slide 3

Slide 3 text

The problem • Not all people are entrepreneurs, but even those who aren’t usually feel the pain due to working as sub-ordinates that are constantly being told what to do & how to do it. • People aren't meant to be machines, & working like that makes them really miserable. • People should have enough freedom in their work to make decisions by themselves & apply their creativity & brain, & not just their hands • See Paul Graham’s analogy* of lions in the Savannah vs lions in the zoo *http://www.paulgraham.com/boss.html

Slide 4

Slide 4 text

Understanding the problem • So why is it that so little entrepreneurs work on what they love & realize their dreams? It's just very difficult, risky & unlikely to succeed because: • It requires the ability to influence people to work with you, & invest their time & money for you • It requires the knowledge & experience of how to do things right • It requires the perseverance to iterate many times until you find the product-market fit • It requires the leadership & values to build an effective team & a successful organization

Slide 5

Slide 5 text

Understanding the problem • More & more people today are working remotely, e.g., from their home or a co-working space • But you very seldom see remote workers finding remote collaborators & starting a new business together • This is probably due to the difficulty in finding, building & managing an effective team, when all members are remote workers

Slide 6

Slide 6 text

Understanding the problem • And why can’t people win their freedom at work, & work without power hierarchy so that they’ll love their work & not be miserable as tiny cogs? • Because people aren’t aware of any alternative to corporate hierarchy which doesn’t involve managers telling their sub-ordinates what to do • But is there such an alternative?

Slide 7

Slide 7 text

The solution • In his book "Reinventing Organizations", Frederic Laloux describes a new way to organize people, which he claims is very effective & powerful • He claims that when you take a team of people, & give them a common goal & the freedom to reach it by themselves, they'll self-organize in an effective way & be much more successful than a group of people working in an hierarchy of managers & sub-ordinates • He calls such organizations: Teal Organizations

Slide 8

Slide 8 text

The solution • There are some great proofs of successful Teal organizations • Buurtzorg - the leading home-care company in Netherlands • Zappos - a leading online retailer acquired by Amazon • Telus - the 3rd largest cellular operator in Canada

Slide 9

Slide 9 text

The solution • fromTeal is an app that helps people build successful Teal Organizations, so that they’ll work on what they love, fulfill their true potential & love their work

Slide 10

Slide 10 text

What • It’s a blockchain-based app, serving as an incubator program for creating Teal Organizations: autonomous teams working without any power hierarchy to deliver value to customers • fromTeal basically facilitates the creation & management of Teal Organizations from their inception to their graduation as successful companies

Slide 11

Slide 11 text

What • fromTeal organizes users into successful companies by guiding them & facilitating their needs, such as: • defining & designing products • recruiting teams members to build & sell them • enable the team to work together with no managers • iterate on the products until they are in high demand • receive technical, business & marketing support

Slide 12

Slide 12 text

What • fromTeal allows entrepreneurs to kickstart their business & make it successful, without taking any risk - they can do all of this while continuing to work on their day job • It helps them recruit & collaborate with a distributed team of like-minded people, who are also motivated by the passion & desire to work on what they love, love their work & eventually make a living out of it

Slide 13

Slide 13 text

What • Unlike solutions for outsourcing work to help kickstart startups (e.g., Fiverr), fromTeal focuses on building a great team that will grow the new business & make it successful • Unlike existing startup incubators & accelerator programs, fromTeal helps build a new kind of organizations, that are driven by a desire to make customers & employees happier, instead of just making shareholders richer

Slide 14

Slide 14 text

Objectives • Success will be measured by the number of people in the intersection of: Population of the world fromTeal users Make a living out of it Work on what they love Love their work * See also the Japanese concept of Ikigai

Slide 15

Slide 15 text

Objectives • Within 3 years, 50K entrepreneurs will use the app to build their business (either create a team based on their idea, or join a team & work on it as equal partners) • 60% of the users will report that they get to work on what they love • 1% of the users will also make a living out of it

Slide 16

Slide 16 text

How • Let’s consider a complete use-case, illustrating how the app works:

Slide 17

Slide 17 text

This is Jenny, she’s a software developer working for some large corporation

Slide 18

Slide 18 text

Jenny hates her job because she’s working without a real purpose, as a tiny cog, being told what to work on & how to do everything

Slide 19

Slide 19 text

She hears about fromTeal, & decides to download
 & check it out

Slide 20

Slide 20 text

She signs-up using her GitHub account Welcome to fromTeal

Slide 21

Slide 21 text

The app asks her to read “Reinventing Organizations”, in order to properly understand the principles behind Teal Organizations The goal of this app is to help users create Teal Organizations. To understand how they work, you’ll need to read this book: Buy the book Next> 1 Please read
