While we're talking about this analogy of music, one of the areas that we really struggle in is when something goes wrong, we then feel like our whole day is off, and we're struggling. Patricia Sung 00:17 And I want you to think about whenever you are in a performing in a group, whether you have done maybe band or choir, orchestra, whether you have performed in maybe like dance or theater, if you perform, played with a sports team, in like a, you know, an actual team sport. When you it also applies to individual sports, actually, now that I think, when something goes wrong, we have the tendency to want to fix what went wrong, and we get stuck here. Patricia Sung 00:56 So for example, I got this analogy from a friend of mine who was in band, she said, You know, when you're performing in marching band, and you get off, like, all of a sudden, you're not in time with the rest of the musical, you missed your notes, or you're at the same time, you know, they're moving. So they're steps in you get out of place, you can't try to jump in where you got messed up, you have to jump in where everyone else is now. So you have to like skip over the part that got messed up and jump in several measures later. Patricia Sung 01:28 You can't redo what already happened, because everyone else has already moved forward. And the same applies to like, if you're in a team sport, like I played softball, if you bobble the ball, and you should be throwing it to first and all of a sudden that runners already circling the base and heading towards second. You can't be like, Hey, wait, hold on, I need any to redo, I'm gonna throw it, I'm gonna do it better this time. No, you have to turn around, and you need to 

be aiming for second or third. If it was a bad bubble, right? You have to let go of messing up first face and turn and see where it's going and head over there and throw to second or third because the game has moved on even though we bobbled and we got off track. Patricia Sung 02:09 This is where we see it in our day. So again, I've got this layout of our daily rhythm is that in the morning, when something goes wrong at the wakeup time, we are trying to fix the things that went wrong. And all of a sudden, we're already on the time where we should be in activity number one where we should already be at work, we should already be homeschooling, we should already be on our way to the playdate. And we're still trying to fix the problems that went wrong in the wake up part. And that's why we feel behind because we're supposed to be farther in the day supposed to be. And we're trying to fix what went wrong earlier. Patricia Sung 02:45 So we're going to talk about how do we get out of that mindset of trying to fix things when the day has moved on. Because when you think about the all the other players in your day, whether you're equating that to whatever your background is musical theater, sports, whatever it like, the rest of your family has already moved on with their day, the rest of the world, your work your co workers, your boss, everyone else has already moved forward in the day and we're stuck feeling like but I'm still trying to fix this problem here that happened at the morning time. Patricia Sung 03:16 And we have to let that go and jump to the next thing. And that's how this pattern seeing this pattern in our day will help us adjust because we can start to see like, okay, a breakfast went to do so I need to like let that go. And how do I jump in with where the day is now. We're going to we're going to get more into that but that mindset will be easier when we see our day progress through sections because we we have trouble with time we don't see time as well. We don't feel time as well. And we a lot of times just don't realize that the time has passed and that everyone else has already moved forward in their day and we're still back here trying to fix the problem.
