Founding of Leonardo Publications •  1950s Paris: Artists began to appropriate new technologies into art making; 
 1960s first computer art • These developments were marginal to the art- and design-world (modernism, abstract expressionism) • Artists were from multiple origins (Central Europe, Japan, South America) while the art world was regionally structured • The artists found resistance to their approaches • If you can plug it in it can’t be art • Artists should paint not write.
