INTRODUCTION Dreamcatcher (드림캐쳐), formerly known as Minx (밍스), is a girlgroup formed by Happyface Entertainment*. The group consists of seven members: Jiu, Sua, Siyeon, Handong, Yoohyeon, Dami and Gahyeon. Dreamcatcher officially debuted on Friday January 13th, 2017. *Dreamcatcher is currently managed by Dreamcatcher Company (DCC) - a subsidiary of Happyface Entertainment

INTRODUCTION Minx (밍스), consisting of members Jiu, Sua, Siyeon, Yoohyeon and Dami, released their ﬁrst single 'Why did you come to my home”' on September 18th, 2014. In 2015 the 5-member group released a mini album called “Love Shake”, with a title track of the same name. As Minx, the group’s songs trended toward a bright, bubbly style with a decidedly cheerful youth-oriented aesthetic.

On November 29th, 2016, Happyface Entertainment tweeted "Dreamcatcher begins now", announcing their new girlgroup. Minx was to be re-debuted with a brand new name and concept, as well as the addition of 2 new members, Handong and Gahyeon. Dreamcatcher’s sound fuses dance music with elements of rock and metal, and their music videos show themes of horror and fantasy. INTRODUCTION

MUSIC Dreamcatcher is a group that has continued to present a color that is uniquely their own, and is known as a team with strong world-building. Their rock/metal inspired sound and horror concept music videos have set them apart in a saturated industry from the start. Billboard listed Dreamcatcher as No. 3 on ‘Best New K-Pop Acts in 2017’ and their debut track ‘Chase Me’ was ranked No. 19 on Best K-Pop Songs of 2017: Critics' Picks. Despite being known for their signature rock sound title-tracks, Dreamcatcher’s albums contain a variety of genres.

It’s centered around a tree that bears white fruits when people say positive words and bears black fruits when people say negative words. It’s a concept that reﬂects society where people can be both delighted and saddened by words.

MILLENASIA PROJECT ‘Be the Future’ is an upbeat track that was created by Millenasia in partnership with the Varkey Foundation, a member of UNESCO’s Global Education Coalition that focuses on improving education across the world. Dreamcatcher, IN2IT and AleXa collaborated on this project to convey the message of how important education and safety are during the COVID-19 pandemic.

GIRL CAFE GUN: R.o.S.E BLUE ‘R.o.S.E BLUE’ is a special OST release for the mobile RPG game ‘Girl Cafe Gun” The song is written and composed by ESTi, who is a known game music composer in Korea. The R.o.S.E Blue MV naturally incorporates the in-game world and other elements from the game. The song uses melodic rock sounds commonly found in anime themes as its base and incorporates characteristic K-Pop elements as well as elements of Trap and orchestration parts, showcasing the unique and expansive in-game world.

PERFORMANCE Dreamcatcher is recognised for their powerful, synchronized choreography and including intricate hand movements. They have plenty diverse choreo showcasing different dancing styles, and they are not afraid to experiment or bring props into performances. One example is their 2018 dream concert performance of ‘intro + you and I’ with backup dancers as well as items such as capes, coffins and ﬂags. Dreamcatcher is also well known for their many covers - whether it be vocal, choreography or both. Member Sua has participated in making choreographies for covers such as ‘Into the New World’ dance break, ‘taki taki’ with Jiu & Yoohyeon, and her ‘copycat’ cover.
