Our Research 2 | Wearable Accessory Device • An accessory that visualize fatigue (tiredness) levels • Implemented with pulse wave sensor, LED, and micro controller • Fatigue level is estimated by ratio of high/low component of pulse wave 4

Today’s Main Topic • Utilize fabrication technology for research • Also utilize to build students’ motivation 5

Case 1 : Prototyping Device • Developed rollable electronic signboard "RolBo" • When not in use, it can be stored like a tape measure • Developed as a graduate research 6 Not in use In use

Case 1 : Prototyping Device • He modeled the housing in Blender (3D modeling software) • The model was printed out using a 3D printer. • At fi rst, it didn’t work at all • Finally, it took 8 cycles of trial and error, and it worked well 🙌 • He got great opportunities for learning 7

Case 2 : Laser Cutter • One students used laser cutter to the fullest • He studied woodworking in high school, so he had a strong af fi nity for it. • He built a modular laser cutter in half a day. 8

Case 2 : Laser Cutter • He researched how to use it and adjusted the parameters to suit his needs. • He made various works and sold them at the school festival. • Just by providing the right environment, students can grow beyond what teachers can imagine. 9

Maker Seminar • Building motivation through interested students’ activity called “Maker Seminar” (΋ͷͮ͘Γθϛ). • Activities where students gather based on their interests • All students can join with no restrictions on departments or grades 10 Monthly Meetup Tutorial

Maker Seminar | Exhibition • We hold on exhibitions held twice a year. • Since the event is held on campus, faculties, staffs and students can easily visit. • For creators, feedback is very important to stay motivated. 11

Take Home Message • Being able to make anything allows for a cycle of trial and error, which promotes learning. • When the environments and the opportunities are provided, students will utilize then freely beyond what teachers can imagine🤯 12
