WSL and Free Software in Brazil ● WSL has 16 years old right now – and 16 editions. ● WSL attracted researchers from several countries and published papers in 3 idioms: Portuguese, English and Spanish. Known people of Brazilian computer science community had published in WSL. ● In this 16 years, WSL has been the main scientific publication vehicle for the main developments for free software research in Brazil.

WSL and Free Software in Brazil ● But WSL papers were dispersed in different websites or only available in a few books, virtually inaccessible for the most of audience. ● How to increase the scientific importance of WSL and spread the knowledge published in the workshop?

Free Software and Open Access ● Open Access has emerged as a social and political movement: the objective is releasing for public access in the internet, free of charge, the scientific literature and data. ● There are several documents and good practices documenting what is Open Access: BOAI, BOAI10, BDOA, BSOA, and more. ● Open Access and Free Software share a same objective for different types of works: sharing knowledge.

Conclusions and Future Work ● WSL has now an open access repository to share all published papers. We expect it to be useful for past and future authors. ● Now our goal it to index the repository in different scientific databases, like BDBComp, DBLP, Google Scholar, and more. That will increase the visibility of the papers published in WSL, improving the access to the free software research published in WSL.
