Maxi: *Sighs*
*The sound of grass being stepped on approaches closer*
Wade: Maxi.
Maxi: Huh?
Wade: *Out of breath*
Wade: *Takes deep breath*
Wade: Phew.
Wade: Why’d you run off?
Maxi: Why’d you come here?
Maxi: You should be properly resting on your bed.
Wade: I know you’re happy to see me.
Maxi: Shut up…
Maxi: Hm?
Maxi: Wait a sec-
Maxi: Why’d you come out barefoot?
Maxi: What if your feet got cut by something?
Wade: Well that’s nothing much.
Maxi: It’s not “nothing”.
Maxi: I guess your feet’s doing okay.
Wade: See?
Wade: Now come back and sit next to me.
Maxi: Sure.
Wade: You heard, didn’t you?
Wade: So you did.
Wade: When I saw you, I thought I had to at least hand you this.
Wade: Wanted to tie it with a pretty ribbon and all that,
Wade: But it’s probably now or never for me.
Wade: This will be yours to open when I go.
Wade: Yeah?
Maxi: Wade I-
(Wade coughs)
Maxi: Wade!
Maxi: You good?
Maxi: How about you head back now…
Wade: Sorry.
Wade: But I don’t want to go back anytime soon.
Wade: Can’t we stay like this for a little more?
Maxi: I guess…
Maxi: I really can’t ever win against you, can I.
*From a distance, mother’s voice can be heard*
Mother: Wade! Where are you?
Maxi: …Wade, you know what?
Maxi: I’m never going to open the box, because-
