🚀 Innovation and Productivity - A Vendor's View

Are we innovating for the sake of it? Technology makes this easy - it's cheap and the cost of mistakes is low (no one dies).

I share some background on what I define as innovation and how we can pragmatically encourage and nurture these in our teams and organisations. I end up with some rather cool 😎 and awesome examples of innovation done right.

Product Portfolio Strategy Draft Template

This is a template that I used successfully to capture the high level strategy for 3 different product sets in a portfolio. I have included descriptive text over each field so you may understand what it intends to capture. IMHO, strategy is in essence made up of these parts:

0. Vision (what's your Big Hairy Audacious Goal? What's the bet?)
1. Why you want to do something (why bother solving the problem)
2. What you want to do (what's the problem you want to solve)
3. What are the immediate identifiable obstacles that if overcome, set you on your way.

🎉🎊Product Launch - Focusing on Performance Improvements

Sometimes we ship products to market that don't have snazzy features, pretty colours and a singing toilet. Sometimes, we just want to whoop the hell out of the competition and make it blazingly fast and supremely accurate at doing its core functionality.

Presenting this in a major product launch keynote while maintaining the audience enthusiasm and excitement isn't always easy.

In this presentation, one or two key pieces of information are on deck while the reason for the improvement and how it changes the life of the user is brought to life by the narration and delivery.
