Slide 2

- Octaves are the same note on different spots of the piano
- "C" is to the left of the 2 black keys

Slide 3

- Standard piano has 88 keys
- The notes go up ABCDEFG, and then repeat

Slide 4

- Major key signatures sound happy or bright. Ex: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SOryJvTAGs
- Minor key signatures sound sad or dark. Ex: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Tr0otuiQuU

Slide 5

- Enharmonics are 2 ways of writing the same note. Ex: G# / Ab
- Sharp means to go up; Flat means to go down

Slide 6

You could say that an F is an E#. You would technically be correct, but no one would ever really call it that.

Slide 7

Treble = High notes
Alto = MIdrange notes
Bass = Low notes

Slide 8

- The Great Staff - combines Treble, Alto, and Bass clefs together. Allows you to visually see how all the clefs align.

Slide 9

- Notice how the Alto Clef's arrow signifies Middle C

FACE = a mnemonic for the spaces within the staff
EGBDF (Every Good Boy Does Fine) = a mnemonic for the lines within the staff

- Notice the notes simply walk up ABCDEFG
