My name is Wolf Paulus,

I am a creator, innovator and educator based in Sedona, Arizona.

Changing the world one life at a time. I’m an Adjunct Computer Science Professor at Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University.

I am appointed to the advisory committee at the University of California, Irvine, and occasionally speak at conferences and user groups on topics ranging from Physical Computing to Emotional Prosody.

Far beyond voice and conversational user interfaces (VUI/CUI) and natural language understanding, I currently explore how to detect bias and how to automate empathy using sentiment analysis, speech synthesis, and empathetic dialogue design to match customers’ emotions to provide best-in-class experiences.

Before my long stint as a Principal Engineer with Intuit, I was a Senior Software Architect at Hewlett-Packard, responsible for developing strategies and solutions, to deliver a compelling mobile print experience; and at Motorola, I was a Distinguished Engineer working on the Google Android platform.

I’ve worked in St. Petersburg, Russia, leading a team of Russian engineers creating smart chatbots, in Frankfurt Germany, leading Deutsche Bank’s development of an electronic banking and security trading application, led software component development contracted from Aten Development in Lyon, France, and worked closely with HP’s mobile development team in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

I received a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Paderborn, which has one of the highest-ranking computer science programs among universities in Germany, and a Specialized Certificate in Embedded Computer Software from the University of California, San Diego.
