File Management-Project Folder We will be using our sample project folder we have made, Please download this file on renderpool.net in the “How to use” page for reference. 2

Slide 4

Slide 4 text

File Management-Project Folder • Before uploading on Render Pool, Render Pool supports files set as Relative path. So we will need a new project folder or use the project folder we have available to download. Asset folder->Place any blend file assets that you used on the scene you want to render on this folder. Cache Folder->If your project is using simulation cache such as Alembic or VDB, Place your simulation files here. Texture Folder->Place textures that you used here. Blend file->This will be the main blend file for rendering. 3

Slide 5

Slide 5 text

File Management-Repath Files (1) • 1.Before we move our assets, we will first open the blend file we will need to render. • Select • File->External Data->Pack resource • 2.Select File->Save As (NOT SAVE) and save the file to a new folder which will be our project folder. • Example: • Our current Blend file is in P:\Blender_Project_Folder • We will save new blend file to • C:\RenderPool 4

Slide 6

Slide 6 text

File Management-Repath Files (2) BEFORE AFTER • 1.Once you saved your blend file to new project. We will need to check what files has been successfully packed. So we will now select • File->External Data->Unpack Resource->Use files in current directory • 2.Once that is pushed, you can notice your new project folder (RenderPool) will have textures folder. • 3.Now we will save and close blender 5

Slide 7

Slide 7 text

File Management-Repath Files (3) • You can see that our RenderPool folder did not copy everything, we have files like caches, linked assets and image sequence on our original folder. But these are not copied as blender’s pack resource cannot pack external caches, linked assets, image sequence or video files. 6

Slide 8

Slide 8 text

File Management-Repath Files (4) In order to solve this, we will need to cut (not copy, ctrl+x) and place any contents that has not been copied. 7

Slide 9

Slide 9 text

File Management-Repath Files (5) After cut-copying the files to RenderPool Folder, Reopen blender and open the scene from RenderPool folder. Material will show pink and linked asset will be missing, but don’t worry, we will fix this. 8

Slide 10

Slide 10 text

File Management-Repath Files (6) • Click on • File->External Data->Find Missing files • Select the RenderPool folder and Blender will find any missing textures. (For Image sequence after selecting, please move the dope sheet and it will be fixed) • Now our Suzanne, a linked asset is still missing, we will need to repath our linked assets manually. 9

Slide 11

Slide 11 text

File Management-Repath Files (7) In the outliner, change from scenes to Blender File Once switching, there will be warning marks which shows that the asset, Suzanne is missing. 10

Slide 12

Slide 12 text

File Management-Repath Files (8) • Right click on either warning mark and click on Relocate and choose the missing asset. • Once that is done, our Suzanne will return on the scene. 11

Slide 13

Slide 13 text

File Management-Checking Missing Files • File Management-Checking missing files • If you want to be sure if your files are missing or not, you can click report missing files while having system console on, or you can check your Data API in the outliner menu if some files are not repath correctly. 12

File Management-File Output(Optional) • In Render Pool, the override of the render settings is the sample, export format, and target frame. • So set the resolution in the render settings and the Compositor and File Output for the render pass you want to export contents inside the composite node. set the resolution Set File Output for the render pass 13

Slide 15

Slide 15 text

File Management-Zip file • Archive your project file into zip file. The Root needs to have the blend file instead of the whole project folder. • Now we are ready to move on to Render Pool. [X] BAD [X] [O] GOOD [O] 14

Renderpool Workflow 1. Select the resolution for estimating consumption points. Render Pool estimates the points consumed when rendering. Estimates are based on factors such as data volume, sampling, and frames. Depending on the content, estimated and actual usage may differ. Final point usage is calculated based on actual render time. 2. Press START RENDER to start rendering. 20

Renderpool Workflow 21 • 03.Rendering Each frame is automatically distributed to servers in various locations. The job being rendered is ∟ If Success:Job can be confirmed on the success page and rendered page ∟ If Failed:Job will move to the Failed page ∟ If PAUSE in the middle:Job will move to the Pause/Cancel page If stuck at the end of the rendering process. Some servers are taking a long time to process the rendering. Please wait for a while and it will be processed. If the rendering still does not proceed, please contact us. If you are in a hurry, please pause and resume rendering again.
