Island peak is among the trekking peak of Nepal, with its standard climbing route having the Alpine PD+ difficulty level.     Imja Tse was climbed in 1953 by british expedition The expedition team included: Tenzing Norgay, Charles Evans, Alfred Gregory, Charles Wylie and seven other Sherpas. In 1956 first main summit was achieved by Swiss team- Hans-Rudolf Von Gunten and two unknown Sherpas Island peak has a difficulty rating of Alpine PD+. Island peak was named island by Eric Shipton's party in 1953, as the peak, resembles an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. In 1983, the peak was renamed as Imja Tse. History
