  1. Abstract One day I saw few depressed faces, heard bunch

of complaints (excuses?) for their failures, listened to their tentativeness of living their life in way they want to the fullest, seen staring eyes looking for people‟s opinions (shouts?) for what they are doing and felt much more which restrict lives without any reason. I wrote this little ebook to share few of my life experiences which may help you lighten up your hard thoughts about life and work. Things which I have been learning from my parents. Lessons learnt after falling on face, many times. At the end it‟s all up to „You‟, take it responsibly. I have tried to present it in general way, I hope you like it. After you complete this ebook, I would like to recommend you to read a story, conversation between „You and Me‟, Google for „Egg by Andy Weir‟.
  2. Pre-to-do list! • Keep „all‟ thoughts, problems and chattering ideas

+ even goals aside and set breath-rate to normal (do it with pace) for these few minutes of reading. Just try it. • Get a cup of coffee or tea or anything preferable while reading and find a quiet corner. • Close other social network tabs from the browser or just open this article in new window and disable volume to get rid of „ding-dongs‟ of new notifications and chats. • Take a paper and pen to note down crucial and suitable points. “Do not” make notes in Notepad or WordPad, writing on a page would be a better idea, believe me because it makes our mind more focused on our thoughts. • At the end, this is highly recommended if you really love and enjoy listening to music (of any genre!). Play the most favorite track; once it is completed, start reading further. This will help us stabilize our mind and thoughts so we can evaluate upcoming things peacefully without any unnecessary prompts in our head. We often do this (to change our mood to better), right?
  3. Let us start! Everything depends on You. William Ernest Henley

(Invictus, 1875) You may want to note down these two lines, as the first point on the paper you have, don‟t you think so? (Don‟t have a paper & pen with you yet? Leave it then, it will not affect anyone but you).
  4. There is nobody (or nothing) to blame for what you

are and who you are! It is just because you handed over control of yourself to them. Be focused on yourself and on what you want! Remember it does not mean „to be Selfish‟. It means, do not let yourself be distracted by others‟ activities/opinions. And that does not mean „to be Stubborn‟ too. It is really hard to be neutral while adapting good things from your surrounding and defending yourself from bad ones, like our body does to vitamins/nutrition and vicious materials respectively. It is even harder to make people understand what exactly this means! So leaving up to you, how you interpret it. Remember, we all have same 24-hours. Great and worst people both use these 24 hours. It does not matter how much time you have; what matter is how you use it, how you utilize it, and how you invest it. And this is not limited to „Time‟ only; every resource you have must be utilized to get the most out of it. This includes your body, your mind, your surroundings, your skills, etc. Now to be focused on ourselves, what we can do? It is as simple as breathing if you are really willing to be!
  5. Be Focused on Your Own Self Brought up by our

Indian-Ancestors. We should be proud of it that we have this billion-dollar technique to live a good and healthy life with! Remember, „Yoga‟ is a different thing than „Meditation‟, clearing because few of my friends have misunderstood these terms lately. Before we get into the meaning of Meditation, let me tell you that you just did it when you started reading this article (recall those „bullets‟ you (might) have used to „shoot‟ zigzag thoughts in your mind! ;)). Actually, it was a mild-version :D. And if you are feeling good from that, imagine how energized you would feel if you do it regularly. This is just the first step to improve our daily productivity. Let me include my experience with Meditation.
  6. Look, you might be visualizing a man (on spiritual channel

like Astha or Sanskar :D ), telling you that ‘ ’, and blah blah blah! However, I am not a Saint or something so that we can argue on their statements, but yes, I would like to put my opinion on the table. I am not stretching the topic if you are feeling so, but it just because we should make the base fortified or we should have fail-proof (at least we can hope for! :D) preparation before starting something new. Why? If one is not focused „enough‟, either it will consume more time to complete the task or it will end up with failure. So be relax and do not get exhausted. This is one of the best activities to steer ourselves towards the right path. It will make one respect others and most importantly one own-being. It will help one to build invisible-irradiating personality, which often known as Aura! (Nature is nanny of science so don‟t expect „son‟ to explain everything about his „nanny‟ ok! :D. There are unimaginable amount of things yet to be discovered and „son‟ is not mature- enough too.) Meditation will help you narrow down your goals and to concentrate on them. You can imagine it as Magnifying Glass and your efforts to „sun rays‟, so now you know what you can do with it ;), right?
  7. How to! • Morning rituals are the best way to

create mood/environment for the meditation. • Start from 5 minutes in morning and 5 minutes in evening. Meditation in the morning will prepare yourself to give your best during the day and those five minutes in the evening will make you relax from whole day‟s enervation. • During the meditation, do not think of anything but your breathings because this is the simplest way to get started with Meditation. Concentrate on exhaling and inhaling and do it rhythmically. Start counting breaths if you feel yourself being distracted again. • Maintain the pace and follow this exercise like chore. There are many effective articles on how to set a new habit on Zenhabits.net that may help you to engrave this exercise on your daily to do list. • Last but not the least, be patient to get the results!
  8. Spend some time Alone In your daily routine, have some

time to be with yourself, all alone! Actually, we do not have time for ourselves though we think we are working hard for our own selves. We rarely notice what our body wants, what our mind is asking for! Post-meditation time is great to enjoy with yourself. ― Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You'll Go!
  9. Go to your room and lay down on your bed;

stand by window; go to terrace and enjoy watching sunrise/sunset; go for a light walk, spend some time on pier or do anything but alone. Your own being seeks attention to itself, it needs respect, it needs care, it needs love and all these only from you, expect least from others. I know because I used to be alone, sometimes it is depressing but now I have turned it into something that encourage me, guide me, support me and at last I enjoy being myself. Many of us do workouts for physical care (at the gym) but very few of us nourish our thoughts and workout psychologically. Remember, our body does not control our mind; it is the mind who drives the body. So first, care for the „control-center‟ and rest of the things will be in control automatically. Once you are stable and focused, it is time to aim at Bull‟s-eye.
  10. Set a „really‟ short-term goal Start from juvenile task. You

might feel it stupid but this will warm you up for the milestones, those are far away. You need the stamina to hold out yourself to reach at „one‟ of your destinations, and it can be achieved only by practicing a little at start and then raising difficulty level gradually. Everything starts from a point, even Big Bang. Remember the smartphone games you play daily, what we experience in every game is that initial stages are so simple that we complete it like pieces of cake, right? And you make yourself better at the game eventually. Counter Strike, one could not shoot a single bullet to enemy at first, but now? Hat-trick headshots! B| \m/ .
  11. Think Big but Start Small One cannot build a palace

in single shot; we need to go brick by brick. If you try to leap over few steps at once, probably you might need to change your pants later :D ; unfortunately, you might get hurt too. So don‟t try to stretch your legs beyond the limit unless you are a gymnast! How to! • Set your first tiny goal. It could be anything; abolishing a bad habit, developing a new skill or improving skills you have. Anything! • Be focused on that little thing and don‟t lose it amongst other priorities. • Once you accept that little change, move to another short-term goal. • Repeat these three steps until you achieve your first milestone.
  12. Be on the Track Take the responsibility and believe in

yourself! We talked about setting up a goal, though just a little one. However, it is not that easy as you pass the levels one by one. You need something that keeps you on the track, keeps you going. What is that 'something'? “You”! I know few 'personalities' who always need to have someone keeping its eye on him or her. You should believe in yourself, you should get your own eyes to supervise yourself! I can imagine a possible reason for this mundane excuse (somebody should be with me to get the result out of myself) is that they don't want to take responsibility of their life, so if they get failed they could have someone to blame. And if we think this from different perspective then they might need someone to show support, buck them up, keep them on the way and most importantly, catch them from falling (failing?). Having someone with you will help for sure, but don‟t depend wholly on them. You must keep moving on your own.
  13. Tips to be on track: • Take enough rest and

sleep. At least 6 hours. • Recall your aim after waking up in the morning. • Try to work a little in the direction of your destination every day.
  14. Mind works best with periodical changes. Why prisoners don‟t have

that much of productivity or enthusiasm? Because their life/routine is static. Don‟t be a prisoner! Think creatively for the same thing you do every day. Change the way you prepare morning tea for yourself, try different arrangements in your room, write with hand other than you used to write, sing the same song in different pitches/tones, etc. Actually, there are many views to see the same little thing; you need to find the angle, which is lagom (Swedish) for you! Change in a way that „you‟ don‟t get change! Little change is good, but if you used to get change the ways and your goals now and then, your hands will be always empty at end of the day. To get something, you must try until you get it.
  15. Record Your Performance Don‟t go blindfold-ily. You must track your

ongoing progress/digress. This will give you insights on following things. • Where you are heading? • Where you are supposed to be headed? • Where you been distracted? • What is your average performance and approx. time left to get to the destination? From these utile insights, you can improve your performance that will lead you to greater productivity and high-rate of goal-completion. How to! • Keep a scorecard with yourself always. • Set reminders in your mobile/laptop/desktop. • Write your daily activities before you go to bed. • Analyze your performance (from your notes and scorecard), weekly and monthly.
  16. We talked about how to get started. But there would

be times when you have to stop for a while. It is little tough to restart the mission once you take more than enough time for halt. And that halt is called „failure‟. Don‟t go ideally, nothing is perfect! Expect downs too if you are going up, before you start. Be prepared for the worst-case-scenario from the beginning.
  17. Fail like a boss! Failing is not a bad thing,

giving up is for sure! Believe it or not but failing will give you a „chance‟ to make yourself stronger. I said a „chance‟; I did not say it will make you “stronger”. That is up to you how you see it! How you grab that opportunity to dig up flaws in your way towards success. You can ask two different person, one who got succeed in first and another one after half a dozen tries. Even a child can feel the difference in how they describe the success. It is like that guava in Sultan Mirza‟s hand (in movie “Once Upon A Time in Mumbai”). Similarly, Success can be rated by what price tag you give it! I am not making these things up; I have failed so many times. I remember the times when I have found myself like ashes of pages on which I had been trying to ink down my story. I had to start from the scratch again and again. Anyways without dwelling in my story, let me share some of my experience to dim the effects of failure.
  18. • Don’t think too much When you fail, your mind

will be full of baffled things and thoughts, which will make you distract from your goal. • Evaluate things calmly Hasten decisions are most likely to be wrong or harmful. So • Stand up one more time There would be no charm in the movie if hero (you) defeats the villain (failure) in first shot. Audience gets thrilled when he gets up after being grounded by villain‟s attacks, to take down the villain. • Have a Sidekick Sometimes Villain (failure) is stronger than Hero (you) is so that Hero (you) would not be able to take him off on his own. Hero (you) will need Sidekick (Friend) to stab down this villain!
  19. And at the last option… • Call, Email, SMS or

Meet me in personal :) If you could not find someone out there who can offer his or her hand, here I am! Seriously I mean it. What we seek when we are in trouble, expert advice? I have this degree in failing :D. I won‟t tell you what to do but I may know what not to do. Even though you might be tired of reading this much, this is just an overview, like abstract. There are many ways to live a healthy and productive life, but those are out of scope to be written in „Any‟ of the books in the world. Those could be learnt only by one own-self, by failing and getting up just one more time than you fail. I would love to have your feedback on my ebook over at [email protected]. Thank you, Prerak. Reminder: Read „Egg‟ by Andy Weir
