project, I want to challenge myself - and I think the best way of doing that is to pick a mixture of two specialist pathways. I am going to focus on both the technical and artistic sides of game development, as I aim to make an entire game by myself, alongside some help (which would most likely just be textures). I want to do this because I really enjoy creating every aspect of a videogame, and because I am unsure of which part of game design is the part I am most passionate about, so I want to keep doing everything until I decide which aspect of the game design process is my favourite. Fun Fact: Stardew Valley was made by one person (@concernedape)! Undertale, another brilliant game, was created by two people, Toby Fox and Temmie Chang, with Toby Fox doing everything except the assets! The first Minecraft updates were all made by one person too!
of characters that can be interacted with throughout the game, as well as a few levels (including a functional tutorial). I would like to also create a story surrounding my game, that is told through the game, but that may only be completed if I have time. My final product will be the game itself, which I expect to be polished and relatively bug-free, with a few levels you can play through. I will post updates regularly relating to my progress on my blog.
youtuber who makes 3D art pieces, and specializes in dioramas about franchises, like videogames and movies. The work I liked the most is the pokemon dioramas, where they show pokemon in their own habitats. The coolest part about it is that they are done inside their own pokemon trading cards or pokeballs, something already associated with the franchise, which makes the cards themselves feel much more personalized to each card and helps to create a small and immersive world, which can relate to the environmental side of “Ecological”. is a sculptor who likes to make fictional and non-fiction animals in action, but she does it with a twist - she uses exclusively recycled materials! I like how her work captions motions, as it captures moments in ecological circumstances using ecological methods, which is a very interesting and unique take on the theme, and something I would like to explore. Takemoto created the first ever mario kaizo world in 2007, a mod of normal Mario games that makes them incredibly difficult and overwhelming. Takemoto used hardly any common game design practices, and instead depended on the player being experienced with videogames, and let them figure things out by themselves. This led to players having to keep things like shells for long periods of the level, just to use them to complete a section, which is an idea I really like, and one that I think relates very well to sustainability, as you have to sustain resources in the game in very overwhelming conditions, which is very difficult for animals (e.g. humans trying to breathe calmly to save air when trapped in a cave), and I think is a very interesting game design idea. Mario Kaizo games are still made to this day, and are very well-received despite their unconventional approach to game design. T. Takemoto Artist three(3) Artist Three (3) kitten
will use Blender to create assets and characters in the game. I may also use other types of software, such as paint.net, to create any custom textures I need. (e.g Paint.net, Photoshop for textures.) Methods / softwares? / techniques?
