  2. Background There are people with visual impairments. Is a decreased

    ability to see to a degree that causes problems not fixable by usual means, such as glasses.
  3. How they interact? They interact with touch and hear. But,

    screen is flat. How they feel the screen? Shortcuts is the answer
  4. A Well Content Structure is a Must HTML already provide

    a tag to structure our document. Use them correctly and nicely. 1. Heading 2. List 3. Paragraph 4. Navigation 5. etc
  5. Navigation is everything for them There is tons of recommendation

    list to structure our website. By default, you should make your navigation more accessible.
  6. Assistive Technology What is it? This is refer to design

    of products, devices, services, or environments so as to be usable by people with disabilities (or I like to say it difable, differently able). It could be phones, laptops, websites, or many things.
  7. GNOME and Firefox GNOME and Firefox is a perfect match.

    GNOME is cool desktop environment that have Assistive Technology built in. Many features of it included on their desktop. Firefox also cool browser that support Assistive Technology natively.
  8. User side There are tools for user to keep using

    laptop with GNOME environment. All you need is only activate it on your system settings. Screen reader (for visual impairments) On screen keyboard High contrast (for visual impairments) Zoom (for visual impairments)
  9. Browsing with Firefox (Screen Reader User) Firefox is the only

    one I know that fully supported AT-SPI from Gnome. Orca can easily read whatever under this browser. But you need some configuration to make it work well. 1. Keyboard user must be know (almost) all shortcut that Firefox have. 2. Turn on keyboard navigator by press F7 , it will prompt you a dialog. 3. You can start searching in the page actived by press /

  11. Chrome and Chromevox Chrome not natively support the screen reader

    from Gnome. Fortunately they have their own, named Chromevox. What you need to do is only install the plugin and read documentation, and Voila!
