wanting to stay in my comfort zone, especially in social situations. By pushing myself more, I can learn and grow and open up new doors. I’ll say “yes” to that next work social. Saying “Yes” 01 Opportunities pass by because I like letting others solve problems for me so that I don’t have to put in the work or give myself the responsibility to solve them. By taking more initiative and knowing that my voice and actions can and will make a positive change. I can be the “others” and improve my community. Initiative 02 Goal setting and planning is intimidating to me because it means accepting the task. I need to rewire my mindset into understanding that while a large task is scary, by making goals and breaking down large tasks into smaller projects, I can too accomplish great things. in is Communication. Throughout adapting to all my different work environments and team structures, I had to push myself to actively communicate through many different means to ensure smooth transitions through projects. Competency Communication is essential to every work environment, especially remote freelance. I will utilize my Communication skills to actively and effectively connect with clients and peers to promote positivity and efficiency. Career Benefit 1 2
I could hide in a box everyday and talk only through text. However, I pushed myself to voluntarily go in office, participate in lunches, social events, and make small talk with other employees. I think being able to say hi and smile to someone else knowing you’ve had a shared experience improved my morale, and knowing my work can have a positive effect on others makes me want to work harder. I think if there’s anything I could be proud of after this experience, it’s having talked to some new friends.
I can, I certainly shrug of leadership as a preference. I would like to be able to accept leadership roles more confidently, or at least try more minor leading roles to develop my leading skills more, as they are often neglected. Interacting with others in the workplace outside of work meetings is often a struggle, especially when I find myself struggling to understand others emotions, and appropriately respond to them. By pushing myself to engage with others more and ask for feedback. I can train my emotional sense and become more comfortable socializing. Competencies to Develop
learned was just how a workplace looks like and functions. It was interesting participating in meetings, learning organizational structures, and the social culture in office that was generally very respectful and positively collaborative. I think I did good work and tried enough, but could certainly reflect on this experience to really improve myself more to make me an even more invaluable team asset.
