  2. INTRODUCTION  Risk analysis is the process of assessing the

likelihood of an averse event occurring within a corporate, government or environmental sector.  Every company has some risk while doing business, and it has become essential to analyze the risk before taking any decision.  A company can increase the security and trustworthiness of the company using risk analytics of data science.  The knowledge of problem-solving, statistics and maths is essential in the field of Risk Management for any professional.  A company faces various kinds of risk which can originate from the market, credits, competitors, etc. The first step in managing the risk is identifying the threat. After that, monitoring and prioritizing the risk is essential.
  3. Real life examples 1. Call Accounting Risk Assessment  It

was implemented by Campton college.  A call accounting system was made both for medical students and administrators to use for billing, tuition, dorm expenses.  The company that they chose for call accounting was TACS.  The challenge was to find a better way for data collection, database improvements and purging information.  The risk assessment team was challenged with looking at vulnerabilities, threat5s and risk and coming up with ways to avoid the risks to the valuable assets that the system contained like he private and secure records as well as accessibility of online interactions, payment histories, and account information.
  4.  The college determined that over $2 million assets could

be at risk including data integrity, private information, access and down timepasswords, and liability costs to the college if private information was accessed.  TACS helped to mitigate risks using compatible software interchanges like Microsoft and an encrypted repository.  Finally, the risk assessment team was able to identity 14 various risks with solutions to those risks that lowered a forecasted 249% risk they had previously determined to a mere 54.3% risk. By lowering the percentage of risk through secure processes, the college was able to introduce a newly updated system.
  5. 2. Passport security protocol  In this, joint effort was

given by PPSLC, a Texas student loan provider, an Microsoft. The project at hand was to see if PPSLC could utilise passport security which is web hosted protocol’ that gives users who are signed in access to many different merchants—here, the student loan merchant website.  In this joint effort both Microsoft engineers and PPSLC techs examined the true cost of damages if a student’s private information was stolen and at what amount per student. They also included the company’s liability if such fraud occurred and student (customer) trust in the system.  Once these risks or threats were defined, the joint teams worked together and also aligned with Passport Security to lower risks through mitigation, software solutions, firewalls, and other technological online advances that would indeed keep the student information safe and secure.
  6. 3. Networked Medical devices  In this, a Microsoft based

medical device that monitored the patients throughout their stay was observed to see if the risks outweighed the cost of the device as well as if the device was practical to use.  The three largest risks here were the device’s accessibility to all staff, network capabilities, and patient confidentiality.  These risks and threats to the new device were tackled via teams that tested defects, encryption protection, password safety, up and down times, and the use of binary formats. They also looked at single user stations and if USB devices were utilized—and how easily they could be infected.
  7.  Because the largest risk was patient confidentiality, countermeasures were

designed to constantly scan, upgrade, and improve threats. A plan was developed for online or server attacks and accessibility was agreed upon via a management team that would oversee and sponsor the use of the medical device.
  8. Case Studies 1. Fehmarnmelt case study Fehmarnbelt tunnel key facts

 The Fehmarnbelt tunnel will comprise a four-lane motorway and two electrified rail tracks. It consists of 79 individual elements, each 217 metres long and weighing 73,000 tonnes, equivalent to 14,000 elephants.  Building the Fehmarnbelt tunnel will directly employ 3,000 people with many more in the supply chain.  The link means it will now only take 10 minutes to travel from Denmark to Germany by car and 7 minutes by train. The project opens up the ScanMed Corridor, 1of 9 prioritised transport corridors within the EU.
  9. Developing a risk strategy  It is important to develop

a risk index to identify, categorise and manage risk in a structured, transparent, and timely way.  Establish an agreed level of risk management competency and knowledge across all Femern A/S employees.  Capture all internal and external risk via predict to provide a real time and accurate view of exposure, together with treatment plans.
  10. Growing risk maturity  Integrated predict risk database and Monte

Carlo Analysis to inform the decision making whether to build an immersed tunnel rather than a bridge.  Bo explains, “Our dedicated risk leaders believed in the cultural impact of the Predict software. A mega-project like Fehmarnbelt required a risk management system integrated into the organisation, providing structure and cohesion.”
  11. Embedding risk as positive force  Implementing Predict! embedded risk

thinking into processes and systems essential to managing timings. As Bo explains, “Anything that could postpone the project and disrupt the critical path and schedule is a risk. Putting a cost on risk makes people listen and time is often the most expensive part of projects at this scale. Yes, there are other risks, but the single most important factor is anything that interferes with time.”
  12. Leading a culture of risk management  Having the right

risk partner helped the Femern team stay on track with their risk strategy. Bo explains, “The Risk Decisions team understood what we were trying to achieve and were able to respond quickly in terms of scaling any needs to this mega-project. That direction has really supported the outcomes.”
  13. 2. Lend Lease Case Study  Lend lease corporation limited

is an Australian based Multinational company and it has its expertise in project management and construction, property investment management and property development.  It involves the construction of up to 3000 residential dwellings and related accommodation that are due for completion in late 2011. As the preferred development partner for Zones 2-7 of the Stratford City regeneration scheme, the company needed to implement the latest risk management technologies and model of proposed developments processes to help ensure the successful delivery of this key project on budget and within tight timescales.
  14.  Risk Decisions was one of the only suppliers able

to demonstrate a track record of successful implementations and delivery of high levels of support to organizations of a similar scale working on large complex projects. Predict! was also one of the only systems to meet all Lend Lease’s requirements for an intuitive and easy to learn system that could be configured to meet the needs of a wide range of different users across the organization.
  15. DELOITTE: A company that follows risk analytics  The company

gives a three minute guide to risk analytics  It has catered to the following questions: 1. Why risk analytics matters now The awareness of risk management has been skyrocketing lately. Because of the news headlines about what happens when the risk is not managed it has increased the awareness. Because of this risk sits at the top of the agenda of the executives. Global expansion is another reason for the increase in risk management
  16. 2. Why risk analytics? It helps to establish a baseline

for measuring risk across the organisation by pulling together many strands of risk into one unified system and offering executives clarity in identifying, viewing understanding and managing risk. 3. What are the potential benefits? a. Getting the details b. Understanding the complexity c. Crossing the divide d. Laying the groundwork
  17. 4. What to do now? a. Focus on asking the

right questions b. Examine interdependencies c. Establish effective programs
