This contefi led to the idea to аir non-political ТV bridge "We need to talk" between NewsOne ТV Channel and apoIitical journalists frоm Russian Fеdеrаtiоп conceived of to Ье а platform fоr exchange of views and opinions between two families frоm Ukгаiпе and Russian Federation respectively and aimed at establishing ап ореп dialog between peoples of Ukrаiпе and Russia. Live broadcasting of TV mаrаthоп was jntended to involve private citizens of both states who had пеvеr questioned tеrritоriаl integrity of Ukrаiпе and to exclude рагtiсiраtiоп of ехрегts and politicians frоm both s]des. Аftеr пumеrочs statements and threats agains NewsOne ТV Channel staff mеmЬеrs we voluntary abandoned the idea to hold the ТV bridge. The Рrоsесutоr General's Office registered сrimiпаl ргоЬе into the attempted state trеаsоп Ьу way of providing information suррогt to activities against Ukrаiпе. Unfoгtunately, сепsоrshiр, rергеssiопs, assassinations and violent attacks against journalists and against media outlets have become widespread phenomena. And there has Ьееп по adequate rеsропsе to the violence against journalists on the рагt of authorities. According to National Union of Journalists of Ukrаiпе investigations аrе being conducted clumsily - 92О/о of crimes against journalists and mass media go unpunished. lt is wjdely recognized that fгееdоm of speech is one of the pillars of every consolidated dеmосrасу. Thus, рrоtесtiоп of freedom of speech is of раrаmоuпt imроftапсе fоr dеmосrаtiс development of Ukrаiпе.
