  1. Feedback • We showed our music video to our target

audience and asked them to write down their opinions of the music video here are their responses………
  2. How have I they affected by the text? • I

think that my target audience had a very mixed reaction towards my music video. This is due to the fact that some said the lip syncing was strong , whereas others said the performers could have put more emotion into the lip sync. Therefore I think that this had a direct effect on the audience as it made them think of what they liked or what they thought could have been better about my video. • I also think that the mise-en-scene had a direct effect on the target audience as the majority who wrote their opinions said either that they liked it, it fitted in with the genre or that it appealed to them. Furthermore this shows that it is something in the video that the audience noticed straight away. I was aiming for this reaction as I wanted the performer’s clothing to be brightly coloured and make them stand out. This shows I have done this successfully. I have learnt that mise-en-scene definitely appealed and stood out to my target audience.
  3. • A couple of members of the target audience said

that the narrative suited the genre and that it went well with the song. This also shows that they were directly effected by the narrative of the music video because they could understand it straight away
  4. Theory • My feedback supports David Morley’s theory as it

shows that the audience are active as they adopt different standpoints related to the values expressed within a media text – such as mixed opinions of my text. The standpoint all of my audience took was a preferred reading . This is because they accepted all the values portrayed in my music video and mainly given positive feedback about it. This has helped me learn that I have successfully appealed to the right target audience due to them taking a preferred reading and taking pleasure in watching it. • I think that my texts offer many pleasures for my target audience and of course people who enjoy listening to electronic dance/alternative music because of the positive feedback and as I offer an insight into the genre for people who may not be familiar with it. This shows that I am also trying to make my texts appeal to a wide audience also because of my advertising technique (magazine advertisement for the digipack) . Therefore I think that they would take pleasure in watching the music video and also by noticing the ancillary texts and the house style they present.
  5. How I would alter my work • I have learnt

from my feedback and from watching my music video through many times , that the lip sync is not quite up to date with the audio in some parts. Therefore changing the precision of the lip sync would definitely be a part of my video that I would like to alter. • Also I would like to change the length of the running shots due to feedback saying that the shots got a bit repetitive after a while.
  6. • Another thing I would also alter would be the

small amount of diversity of shots. This would be because in feedback people from the audience said that it would have been nice to see different shots. However, shots were only repeated at the end and the running shots were just cut and looked very similar. So I think that having more diverse cinematography would have improved my video.
