5 Ways To Actually Practice Mercy You Need To Know

The Christian call is an invitation to a walk of mercy. The journey of mercy is twofold, the mercy we received and the mercy we give. The good news is we can only give what we have receive.

Christ showed us mercy, so we need to show others too.

In this video, I discuss 5 ways believers can practice righteousness in a manner that gives glory to God. With the rise of trolling and internet shaming, believers have been caught in the bandwagon and need to return to their roots.

  1. Anecdote •I used to play chess in high school •

One day we went to Chinhoyi for a chess competition • The competition ended late • And we missed the bus • After sitting by the roadside for several hours • A woman came with two dozen packets of pop corns • “I saw you when you arrived and I knew you haven’t eaten anything” • After sitting for more than 4 hrs we were definitely hungry
  2. Ministry of Mercy •Mrs. Sibanda did not have to feed

us, but love compelled her to action •She lived in Chinhoyi and we were from Karoi and the two towns were about 60 miles apart •She gave us with no possible benefit on her part •All she wanted was for us to be full •Mrs Sibanda ministered mercy to us
  3. 1. Mercy is driven by love • Without love it

is impossible to show mercy 4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;[a] 6 itdoes not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 4-7
  4. 3. Mercy shows Authentic Christianity •On Thursday I sparked a

row on Facebook after I wrote a post saying the mark of true Christianity is not sponsoring a pastor’s greed, through unaccounted for tithes and offerings, but giving to our parents and poor relatives. •It seems people are offended by a call to authentic Christianity •But what does the bible say? Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. James 1:27
  5. 4. Mercy demands justice • On Thursday my sister had

a workplace accident • She worked in a restaurant and she burned herself with hot cooking oil • Her boss gave her $10 for medical expenses and yesterday morning the boss called and told her she was fired. • The single mothers, divorced women, orphans and poor people are abused every day. • The ministry of mercy is a ministry of justice. • I sent my young brother to demand justice for my sister, I did not have money to pay for her medical bills, but I could seek justice.
  6. Summary 1. Mercy is driven by love 2. Mercy is

fueled by God 3. Mercy shows Authentic Christianity 4. Mercy demands justice 5. Mercy Supports Righteousness Christ demands we walk in mercy and not be like Pharisees “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. Matthew 23:23
