  1. In this presentation… • First, you will see some examples

of how I developed my skills and ideas through practice and hard work. • You will understand my interests in creativity and my preferences when it comes to drawing. • Finally, you will be able to tell why I chose to study Animation, through the steps I took in this great journey of Art. You will notice that some slides have an almost blank background. I chose to leave it empty so it won’t distract the viewer from the artwork.
  2. The Human Body Theme Throughout this demonstration of my work,

you will realize that everyone’s favorite superhero, Spider-Man, gets a lot of spotlight. My choice of using him as the main idea was not random. While I was learning about the human body and how it reacts to every position, I realized that drawing a plain body felt empty. In order to explore the movement of the body parts and make it look interesting at the same time, I decided to use the most flexible character ever, Spider-man. So, with my love for comics and superheroes in mind, I decided to bring to life my body art by dressing them with colorful spandex! However, don’t let the superhero theme mislead you! My original ideas and the way I deliver them to paper is what this portfolio is about. I hope you enjoy it!
  3. Let's start at the beginning! How can anyone be proud

of their latest work if they don’t appreciate where they started? In the case of my beginning, these images show the development of my skills when it comes to the human body. 2015 Pencil 2019 Pencil 2020 Ink 2019 Ink Skill-Development
  4. But how? How did I learn how to draw the

human body at last? Someone may ask. The answer is simple: Practice makes perfect. After spending countless hours in front of the mirror making poses and paying attention to detail on any type of body shapes, I started figuring out the structure of the body. For the record, as a self-taught young artist, I’m against any type of copying someone else’s artwork and getting the credits for it. I strongly believe that anyone can reach perfection only if they work hard enough and believe in their goal. That’s why every piece of my work is original and unique.
  5. Growing up sucks. It’s always fun and nostalgic to remember

your childhood every once in a while. When I was younger I used to be obsessed with SpongeBob! Recently, I found a drawing of Spongebob I made back then. This drawing is truly special to me because I sent it to a popular Spongebob magazine, and it won the title: “The drawing of the month”. As a 8 year old, I couldn’t feel prouder! “Giorgos Konstantinou 8 years old, Cyprus” “Drawing of the Month”
  6. Finding this drawing gave me inspiration to revisit Spongebob but

by a different perspective. I’m sure the years don’t affect only me, so I had this crazy idea about creating an older version of Spongebob! Unlike the original character, I had to reverse his energy and happiness to a more mature and serious look. It looks like old Spongebob has a new wardrobe, he grew beard and even started smoking! Now, he goes by the shorter name “Bob”. But his pal Patrick couldn’t cheat on the years passing. I gave him a more 2010’s look, a fresh air of expensive looking clothes, chains and even the newest generation wireless earphones! This artwork was made with pencil colors and only!
  7. Next Step Sketching on paper can’t always bring your original

idea to life, so I thought that I had to make the next step. Computers had always been in my heart, and exploring the possibilities that they can offer you is one of my favorite hobbies. I had to take my art on the next level, so I decided to learn how to use Photoshop. After many hours of practicing and watching tutorials, I was finally able to make the next big project, digitally. This was my first attempt at digital art: 2017
  8. The Next Big Thing Body structures was what I was

working on at that point, so creating a digital Spider-man was inevitable. However, Photoshop opens many doors when it comes to art, so making a plain black and white body structure was not an option anymore. Firstly, I made this sketch as a draft to feel more comfortable and to use it as a base. Then, with my mouse and only, I made the outline digitally.
  9. Colors! Colors were a must and I couldn’t wait to

try the digital pallet! The video shows the development of the coloring. The plain colors at first and then the shadows and highlights. The picture shows the final colorful artwork. (Press play to view)
  10. What about the Background? To complete a big project, you

need an ideal background. I though that I needed to give this artwork a space and stars like feeling, showing how powerful the main hero is. I also added the hands at the bottom to show how weak and “down to earth”, the normal, non-super people are. The white hand was important, because it symbolizes Hope in a crowd full of Negativity (darker hands).
  11. One last Spider-Man Many hours were spent and many bodies

were drew. For the sake of the Development demonstration, I had to add the most recent body structure I digitally drew. Remember, all of them were made only with a mouse! Once again, I started with some base sketches in order to choose the one I would work on:
  12. Comparing the coloring Obviously, the pose is way more dynamic

since I first started drawing digitally. However the biggest difference can be seen if you compare the previous digital art’s coloring with this one’s.
  13. COVID-19 This worldwide pandemic we are currently going through, brought

sadness, stress and fear to each one of us. But not worse than a specific group of people. Despite this dangerous risk, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and every other medical person, put their lives on risk everyday in order to help the people in need. Rough Sketch So I made an attempt to thank these people in a creative way. My idea was to draw a doctor persona (who would represent this group of people) fighting against a personified virus.
  14. Progress.. In this 3 minute video you can see some

of the main progress of the artwork in fast forward. You can see that I drew the virus character with a bigger head to give the feeling of a bigger threat. I also placed him lower than the nurse to show how weak he is compared to her. The character placed higher in the image also gives the perception of power and domination. This was the exact message I wanted to pass through this artwork. (Press play to view)
  15. Finally, I added colors, shadows and highlights. I had to

give movement to the image, something that would look like the power the nurse releases when she punches the virus. I created this semicircle, a representation of medicine because of its green color. I later changed it to a more dynamic version. Then, I tried different styles of backgrounds to see which one fitted with the context the most. At last, I went with a more complexed idea, a background surrounded by blood cells, closer to virus’ real habitat.
  16. Under construction… Is it true what they say that Social

Media destroy us from the inside and they let out the worst side of us? This concept is what I had in mind while I was wondering if there are actually demons hidden inside our phones. (Press play to view)
  17. Back to our roots It’s always great to take a

break from everything once in a while and spend some time outside. With that being said, I’m lucky enough to live under rock. Literally. My house is placed on a mountain, so I have easier access to nature. Nature can inspire you to do many things. Personally, I love going outside and admire nature’s complexity. The more you observe nature’s gifts, the better you will understand how unique every plant is in its own way.
  18. Photoshop Editing pictures is one of my favorite hobbies, because

if you have the skills to use Photoshop, the possibilities are endless. Just like drawing, Image Editing enables you to bring all of your fun and crazy ideas to life! I was curious to see how celebrities look in superhero suits. These were the results: Kendrick Lamar as Black Panther Dove Cameron as Gwenpool Selena Gomez as Spider-Girl
  19. The Kitten Project What if our favorite superheroes turned into

cats? Meet: 1. CYPAWS (Cyclops) 2. CAPTAIN MEWRICA (Captain America) 3. OLD CAT LOGAN (Old Man Logan)
  20. Animation I’ve always admired animation movies both in 2D and

3D format. My passion for art and my interest in learning about animation combined, is what led me to an attempt of making my own little animated project. I first started with some very basic movement, added on a digital drawing.
  21. Unipork The next big thing was to make a small

length full-animation project, so I started coming up with simple Ideas to begin with. I created a little character named Unipork! You guessed it, it’s a combination of a pig and a unicorn!
  22. Simple, yet Adorable I had to create something simple yet

interesting because anything too complexed would have probably caused problems for an amateur like me. I worked on basic animation to see how I could work. The idea was about a funny incident with Unipork. I decided that I would make an animation about Unipork sneezing heavily! Unipork on Stage 1 (Press play to view)
  23. Attention to detail I didn’t want to create just another

digital artwork and add some movement on it. I had to bring to life the whole picture this time. You will notice some little details I worked on, only if you look close enough. Here are some examples: When Unipork is about to sneeze, his horn shrinks and his nose is getting bigger. Also, the lines following the bee appear only when the bee moves. Last but not least, I also added some movement on his tail and his ears. (Press play to view)
  24. Markers In the past few years I worked with pencils,

colors, ink and even digitally. I was really interested in trying to work with markers. This was the first big project I made only with markers, ink for outlines and shadows and pencil for some rough sketches just to divide the page’s space. I combined the human body with some colorful markers and..Spider-Man was inevitable. (Press play to view)
  25. Storyboard Movies, cartoons, comics and even presentations have a rough

base to work on, before the final result. The so called storyboards gained my interest a while back, and I wanted to try telling a short story through a Storyboard. I had just finished a unique black and white project I was working on.
  26. My idea was truly complicated but very challenging too! I

was about to attempt to draw pain! How could I draw a physical form of such a strong feeling? I got my inspiration from the previous project. The story starts with a close up of a mysterious man (seen in the previous slide). We see him walking inside of a futuristic bar.
  27. Α stool appears out of nowhere so the man can

sit on it. The bar is futuristic, with an artificial intelligence even, so it would sense if someone was looking for a place to sit.
  28. The shot changes, showing someone else already drinking in that

bar, with his glass filled but not with any drink. Then we see that person and he seems drunk. Next shot, we see that tentacle inside of his glass, wrapped around his head.
  29. Next frame, we see the first man waiting to order

and the drunk man walking behind him. The drunk man pats the back of the mysterious man, in order to notice him, to greet him. The mysterious man greets the drunk man by lowering his hat. We see the same tentacle coming from the drunk man’s hand who’s waving, all the way to mysterious man’s back. The same place where the drunk man first patted him.
  30. The story ends here only because the main point has

been delivered. The tentacle is the incarnation of pain itself. The second man is clearly drunk and suffers from a headache. The alcohol he consumed cause the pain, so it makes sense if the glass which was previously filled with alcohol, is the place where the tentacle comes from. The tentacle is wrapped around that man’s head because that’s where he feels the pain. The pain comes from the glass and it reaches the drunk man’s head.
  31. In the next frames we see that the tentacle is

wrapped around that mysterious man’s back side of his arm. The exact spot where the drunk man patted him. His back was where he felt the pain (no matter how mild the pain was) and the drunk man’s hand was the source of it.
  32. Thank you! And that was the brief demonstration of my

most recent work. With a lot of hard work and infinite hours spent on ideas, experiments and creativity, I was able to bring to life the work you just saw. Improving your self is a daily task and the thirst for knowledge is the key to achieve your bigger dreams. Thank you for your time, I really hope you enjoyed this creative journey I had until now. There’s and even greater journey ahead of me!
