This is the winning concept from Global Sustainability Jam Oslo 2011!
PopSpots turns "blind spots" in the city - dark parks, empty streets, deserted parking garages, paths along the river, train stations- into vivid and interactive environments, which encourages people to use them actively and take the city back, and at the same time making everybody feel safer.
PopSpots is a service offered to cities worldwide to interact with the public and to activate the blind spots in the city. The city government provide the infrastructure of lights and sensors in the spots, people provide the information and activation. We bring the bring the public and the city government together in making it easy to freely move around in the city and by that making it fun and safe.
The sensor either turns on twinkling, ambient lights or makes your phone play soothing tones. By moving the phone around the tones turns into tunes, and the twinkle turns into light streams.
The service of the PopSpots area is accessible at any time, and can also be used as an interactive exploration walk by everyone (kindergartens, families, older people).
