2. 2016 was another year full of change for Little Red Door. The way we treat cancer patients is changing, techniques for screening are changing, and healthcare policy is changing. Whatever changes come next Little Red Door will be there. As Indiana’s most trusted cancer agency, we have been responding to change for 71 years, finding the best possible outcomes for our clients, and we will continue to do so for every single person that walks through our doors. In 2017 Little Red Door will not only continue this work, but we are expanding and improving our programs and services to better meet the needs of our clients. We are adding two family camp sessions of Camp Little Red Door, we are prioritizing reaching out to African American communities so we can work together to decrease breast cancer disparities, and the offerings of our Door to Wellness program are expanding. Finally, this year we are working to improve our space at 1801 N. Meridian to better meet the needs of the growing number of Hoosiers we serve. For over 70 years Little Red Door has been a leader in our community, we hope you will join us for the next 70 as we continue to make the most of life and the least of cancer. 6. Enhance navigation services 2016 Face of Hope Breakfast The 9th annual Face of Hope Breakfast was held on November 17, 2016, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Expo Hall. This year 1,100 people attended the breakfast and $351,174 was raised for cancer patients in central Indiana, both the most in event history. Little Red Door would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who attended in 2016 and helped make this possible! We hope you will join us for the 10th anniversary Face of Hope Breakfast on Thursday, November 16, 2017 to celebrate the impact our supporters have in helping Little Red Door make the most of life and the least of cancer. 9. 8 2016 Big Red Bash Experience In 2016 we took the Big Red Bash Experience on the road, for the second year in a row, to educate Hoosiers about the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices and how it impacts cancer risk. The Big Red Bash Experience traveled to three events over 21 days; including Indy Pride in June, Indiana Black Expo in July, and the great Indiana State Fair in August. Throughout the 21 days Little Red Door staff and volunteers engaged with thousands of Hoosiers, encouraging them to take the Bash Cancer Pledge; a commitment to make at least one healthy lifestyle change that can lower their risk for cancer. Pledge takers committed to eating healthier, being more physically active, avoiding tobacco or protecting their skin from sun damage. We reached more Hoosiers this summer, 16,575, than ever before with our message about cancer prevention. In total, over 4,000 individuals and families pledged to make a healthy lifestyle change. 10. 12 2016 Golf Outing Every August, golfers join us at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course to help raise money for Camp Little Red Door. This annual outing is one of our biggest fundraising events of the year and allows us to hold Indiana’s oldest camp for children with cancer. The 2017 Golf Outing will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2017. This year, Camp Little Red Door will be holding two new family camps, March 31- April 2 and October 6-8, and summer camp held June 18- 23.
