The Rise & (Supposed) Fall Of Google Authorship

My talk at Port80 Summer Localhost 2014. At the end of June, Google announced that they were removing authorship photos from their search results – a shock within the SEO industry, the majority of whom thought that it was a positive step towards rewarding authoritative writers and bloggers. I’ll be talking about Google’s Authorship journey so far (a.k.a. rel="author"), what the changes mean and a prediction on Google’s future plans… Is Authorship truly dead, or are the reports of its death greatly exaggerated…?
