A jobinterview is like a first date

Looking for a job is a lot like looking for a relationship. First you want a meeting (date). Then you want to convince the person on the other side of the table that you are THE ONE.

guarantee that it will work for dating. Disclaimer :
  5. It’s not a written letter anymore. It’s various ways but

mostly ends in a mail with the CV attached.
  6. Personal letter Great cv CV is more important. Letter gets

deleted, CV is saved. So make sure everything you want to say is on your CV.
  7. Ik ben berijdt tot bijscholing. Pretty please. I can not

translate this, but it’s wrong, very wrong.
  8. Different boys, same love letter? 4 different boys, not 5,

but statement is still valid. You wouldn’t send the same letter, so don’t send the same letter and CV to all companies.
  9. cv Focus on the things that are different My car

has seats, doors, wheels and a steering wheel. All true, but only with luck will you find my car. Many CV’s are accurate, but not distinctive. Make sure that your CV is picked out of 10.
  10. You are a teamplayer? It’s not because you say you

are that we are going to believe you. Make sure there is proof in your CV of the statements you make. Eager to learn : book you read, courses you followed,…
  11. You too are a STAR S ituation T ask A

ction R esult Describe your projects with these 4 pieces. It’s easy to write and easy to read. Way better than bullit points.
  12. Resume.pdf If we save your file on our server we

will not know who’s CV it is.
  13. [email protected] It’s cool that you are the Beer King, but

this is not the right address to send your resume.
  14. Of course we google you. And I hope you do

the same. Google your contactperson. So you know who he is, what’s he like, …
  15. 2011 And Google yourself. So you know what people saw.

In 2011 I was a gardner. I was not, but if you googled me, you could think that.
  16. Friend book for adults Linkedin is always on top and

it’s yours. It’s you that are in control of everything in it.
  17. In 45” you judge and are judged Blame our lizard

brain. We make instant decisions if we like someone or not. Make sure that your 45 seconds are bang on !
  18. “… spontaneous decisions are often as good as or even

better than carefully planned and considered ones …”
  19. Don’t be late ! Or let them know that you

are going to be late and why. So people know when to expect you.
  20. Don’t lie, stretch. Lying is a bad idea. Making it

a little bigger is possible. But not so big it becomes unbelievable.
  21. Ask questions You are going to spend 9-10 hours a

day at work. Make sure that you know what you sign up for.
  22. Write answers down next to the questions that you asked

and listed beforehand. So you don’t forget anything and can compare it with other companies you did an interview with.
  23. What are your best / worst qualities. Why should we

choose you? Why are you more qualified than others?
  24. YES NO Say Yes or No. But not Yes and

than adding something to make it smaller. People do it without realising it, but we say yes and then we break our answer down.
  25. YES NO No, I’ll give it a try. Yes, I

think so. Yes I think so, is not the same as yes. It is less. Try the test on the next slide and you’ll know.
  26. Do you loveme? Next time your partner asks you this.

Answer with : “Yes, I think so”.
  27. YES NO Yes, it is perfect for me. No, without

hesitation Extra after yes or no should make it bigger, not smaller.
  28. We’ll call you. Some will, other’s won’t. And some won’t

do it on purpose. They want to test your motivation. If you don’t call them, you’re not motivated enough. Best way to respond : “Ok, thank you. When can I expect your call?” “If I haven’t heard from you by then can I call you?” Gives you permission and a timeframe when to call.
