  1. EP/Creator: Natasha Kline Story Editor: Rachel McNevin Episodes: 2x11 min

episodes Development Executives: Elizabeth Taylor, Emily Carson Current Series Executives: Edward Mejia, Elyse Findley QUICK FACTS LOGLINE Tater is a girl with big dreams for herself. Sure, she’s a pretty ordinary kid now, but she knows she's got that “it factor” that makes her special… she just doesn't know what it is yet! But Tater isn’t worried: she’s got her entire summer break to figure it out. With oodles of lists, plans, and alone time, she’s going to do some amazing stuff, like learn karate! On rollerblades! While riding horseback! But when her twelve cousins move in for the entire summer and upend all her big plans, Tater will discover that her true “it factor” is having twelve cousins who think she’s special just by being herself. PILOT STORY It's finally here: Tater’s double-digit birthday, the BIG 1-0! Tater is abuzz with excitement: turning ten means that everything in her life is gonna be ten times better! And, of course, a special birthday like this requires a very special party to commemorate the occasion… but when Tater discovers that her overwhelmed parents have their hands too full to plan anything special (besides a yellow-flavor box cake!), Tater decides to take things into her own hands, and recruits the help of her primos to throw the best birthday party ever! Will Tater be able to control her crazy cousins, or will their shenanigans ruin her special day? CREATIVE BRIEF Natasha and her store bought cake
  2. Comedy with Heart – With a wacky and boisterous extended

family living together under one roof, chaos and comedy go hand-in-hand in Primos. Despite the challenges, Tater and her primos learn that the key to family is unconditional support and acceptance. Authentic Points of View Through Inclusive Storytelling - Inspired by Natasha’s childhood, Primos showcases a Latinx, multi-generational family in intimate ways unique to this show. Family dynamics are explored through both a personal and cultural lens that is inviting and enlightening for all. Relatable and Surprising Characters and Worlds – Tater is a beautiful balance of being eccentric and deeply relatable. Some kids will see themselves in her home, whether it’s her socio-economic status, her neighborhood, or having her abuela down the street. Other kids will see they share her journey to discovering what makes her special. And as they connect to this world and journey they will live vicariously through Tater during her wild, exhilarating, and empowering “summer of primos.” Fantastical Wish Fulfillment - Tater has big dreams and a larger-than-life imagination, as shown by entries in her super secret diary, which turns her private thoughts into grandiose animation sequences. Eventually, Tater will realize the support and company of her primos is all she really needs to have great adventures and be her best Tater. Stories That Matter – Primos showcases an endearing and inspiring Latinx family. As a personal story, authenticity is baked into our main character, Tater, and the show leans into the relatable lessons Natasha learned firsthand: You don’t need to transform in order to find what makes you unique and sometimes family are the only ones who can help you see it! WHY DISNEY CREATIVE BRIEF
  3. CREATIVE BRIEF CULTURAL RELEVANCE Natasha and Her Real Life Primos

In the kids media landscape overall, 6% of lead characters are Hispanic and 8% of total characters are Hispanic – Hispanics are the most underrepresented ethnicity group in kids media compared to census (Census: Hispanic kids <18 make up 25% of the population) Disney Channel has 9 Hispanic characters/130 total characters within our current series main cast (primary or secondary characters). Only 1 of these characters comes from an animated program (The Owl House). Few series in the kids landscape highlight Hispanic culture as a part of the storytelling. Victor and Valentino and The Casagrandes are the only current animated series with a majority Hispanic cast. More than 1/3 of TV households with K6-11 are low-income. Similarly, for Disney Channel, around 1/3 of viewers live in low income housing. In the kids media landscape, urban and lower income living situations are underrepresented. Most series feature suburban, middle income living situations. Natasha’s neighborhood in Fontana

  5. CREATIVE BRIEF Primos gives us an opportunity to strengthen our

engagement with the Latinx audience by providing more resonant content through characters that reflect them and cultures and storylines that are relevant to their lives. Our series is rooted in reality that extends beyond the creator, Natasha’s experiences. These authentic characters and stories depicted in Primos are highly relatable to our Latinx audience.
