  1. FBI v.s. CIA The CIA and FBI are both members

of the U.S. Intelligence Community. The CIA, however, has no law enforcement func@on. Rather, it collects and analyzes informa@on that is vital to the forma@on of U.S. policy, par@cularly in areas that impact the security of the na@on. The CIA collects informa@on only regarding foreign countries and their ci@zens. Unlike the FBI, it is prohibited from collec@ng informa@on regarding “U.S. Persons,” a term that includes U.S. ci@zens, resident aliens, legal immigrants, and U.S. corpora@ons, regardless of where they are located.
  2. Overseas v.s. Domes1c Unlike the Federal Bureau of Inves@ga@on (FBI),

which is a domes@c security service, the CIA has no law enforcement func@on and is mainly focused on overseas intelligence gathering, with only limited domes@c intelligence collec@on. [6] Though it is not the only agency of the Federal government of the United States specializing in HUMINT, the CIA serves as the na@onal manager for coordina@on of HUMINT ac@vi@es across the U.S. intelligence community.
  3. Coopera1on In the 1990s, aSempts were made to revamp America’s

intelligence gathering and law enforcement agencies so that they could beSer respond to the threat posed by post- Cold War enemies such as Al Qaeda. The reformers, however, had to fight a deep-rooted compe@@veness between the FBI and the CIA, da@ng back to J. Edgar Hoover’s days, when the two agencies competed for each other’s turf. They also had to contend with vastly different goals. For the FBI, intelligence is the fodder of prosecu@ons, while the CIA’s focus is on intelligence as a stepping stone to more knowledge. Legal walls built to protect intelligence sources and defendants, over @me, also added to the general lack of coopera@on between agencies.
  4. Power and Impact The CIA is an intelligence agency, devoted

mainly to the acquisi@on and analysis of informa@on, and then the making of predic@ons and es@mates based on that informa@on. Very liSle of its aSen@on and resources are devoted to “covert opera@ons” of the kind that make their way into movies and TV. The FBI and Secret Service are law enforcement agencies. They exist to inves@gate crimes (general federal crimes and assis@ng local law enforcement when asked is the FBI’s area while the Secret Service primarily works on hun@ng down counterfeiters, with only a @ny frac@on of its resources devoted to protec@ng government officials).
  5. Unique Career Although specific bachelor degree programs are not a

requirement for achieving CIA agent inves@ga@ve jobs, many candidates in this field pursue bachelor degree programs in: Criminal jus@ce. Criminology. Sociology. Emergency management. Homeland security. Police science. Criminal jus@ce administra@on. Psychology. As an FBI special agent, you will be at the forefront of our mission to get ahead of threats. Bring your skills, talent and dedica@ng to a team working at the highest levels of inves@ga@ons.
  6. Salary Becoming an FBI Agent was considered to be a

great achievement at the @me of 2011, the common running salary for fresh, new FBI agents is approximately $43,500. Fresh agents designated to par@cularly high-cost loca@ons, just like New York City, Chicago and Birkenstock Boston, could be paid out a moving bonus of approximately $22,500. Although the government keeps it secret and does not reveal it to the public, but the expected basic salary aier becoming a CIA agent is $40,000 to $60,000 yearly for entry level. This totally depends upon the abili@es and the mind IQ skills of the candidate.
