  1. Learning Activity: How to be a social entrepreneur - Definition:

A person who tries to solve social problems using entrepreneurial skills - Have the eyes to find social problems and use creative thinking and skills to find situations to the problems. - Rather than relying on funds and grants, social entrepreneurs create a self sustaining plan for the business to provide for its own, using the profit to reinvest into more missions, it is more likely to make a larger and more long term impact. - Starting with solving small issues around the community and building trustful relationships can eventually help in the future for bigger and more profound plans.
  2. Personal Insights: Networking - I often find myself trying to

avoid social situations, and ignoring the fact that the industry I’m in is a very team oriented field. Building a network and being active in the community helps everyone on their career journey. One of the things mentioned in the learning activity is how the presenter’s first step of helping to solve problems in their community is to connect people so everyone can help each other. I want to learn from their success and connect with more people and create a better chance for work opportunities in the future. Spotting problems - I need to have better eyes for looking out for current and potential problems. I work on background paintings and sometimes there are going to be inconsistencies throughout the episode, either caused by poor planning or miscommunications, the mistakes then will take extra time to fix which will delay our team’s schedule. In the future I will try to keep a sharper eye for potential problems and ask more questions to avoid mistakes that can be avoided in the first place, it will keep me and the team on schedule and cause less last minute panic.
  3. Competency Improvement: I think I’ve improved my communication skills throughout

the course of the internship. In the beginning I was unable to come up with efficient questions or scared to ask clarifications which caused a lot of miscommunications. Now that I’ve worked several months alongside my team, I am able to communicate much clearer, and I know what to look out for and what to expect when it comes to assignments. Plus I am able to build respectful relationships with my peers and co-workers at the studio. Career benefit: Communication is key when it comes to any job, to be able to transfer and receive one’s idea clearly can go a long way, and by mastering it one can avoid a lot of mishaps that might cause issues or delay within production. It is a skill everyone should have, the most important element when it comes to a successful career path.
  4. Pushing Past Comfort Zone The studio I am working for

held multiple social events throughout my stay. It is something I was very nervous about, but I tried and pushed past my comfort zone to go to these events. I was still not the best at social networking, but I got to talk to a few people within our field and got to understand our company culture and goals better. It definitely needs a lot of work so I can make the most out of these social events, but for now, I’m just glad I took the first step to go, the rest will come easier.
  5. Competencies to develop further: Leadership Being a leader is not

about controlling people, it is about helping the team reach everyone’s best performance, help people find their strength and maximise it, and take responsibility when needed. I would like to develop my leadership skill better by first helping people around me, by having more experience with working with others I develop the skills needed when it comes to effectively leading a project forward. Emotional intelligence I want to get to know my emotions and actions better, it can help me with my communication skills, to have more active listening and be able to word my thoughts more clearly. I can also increase my confidence which will help me a lot in both work and just day to day situations. I want to put myself out there and connect with people better.
  6. Conclusion: I learned a lot of how a regular workplace

functions and what goes into a production. It was fun testing the water of what I am working towards. It helps me understand how to get to the position I potentially want to be in and what to avoid. It was also really nice to get to talk to the experienced professionals and see what they went through and listen to their advice. I think I did a decent job on my part, there is definitely a lot I need to learn to become a better worker and a team member, but overall the experience is nice and I gained a lot from it. 👍✨
