2. (Printed with the demonstration version of Fade In) INT. DINING ROOM - AFTERNOON Quiet suburban home. BETH (9) sits at the dining room table, drawing. Markers, colored pencils, and loose paper take up the majority of the table. Beth has long, frizzy, dirty- blonde hair, and is dressed in a blue t-shirt and knee- length tan shorts. Her socks are mismatched. She is drawing birds flying under a rainbow. Beth hears the front door open and turns her head to the noise. She waves as DERECK (18), tall with short dirty- blonde hair and glasses, enters. He carries a shopping bag with Japanese writing on the front. He approaches Beth. DERECK Hey man. Check this out. Dereck sets the bag on the table and pulls out a box. Beth's eyes widen in shock as she looks at the photo of BIG TITTY ANIME FIGURINE printed on the side. Dereck opens the box and pulls the contents out, snapping the loose parts of it together. He sets the completed figure on the table. Big Titty Anime Figurine is an eight-inch tall plastic figure of a young woman. She wears a maid dress with an impressively low-cut top showcasing her impressively large breasts. The figure has a mischievous smile and a wink. Beth stares at the figure, a horrified looking growing on her face. She ignores Dereck as he rambles. DERECK (cont'd) Hard work really pays off, y'know? Being a grown man with a job... I can do whatever I want with my money. Beth abruptly stands up from the table, collects her drawing supplies, glares at Dereck, and leaves the room. INT. LIVING ROOM - EVENING Beth sits in the living room watching television. She is watching a show about brightly-colored magical girls. A small bird cage with a lone bird sits in the corner. MAGICAL GIRL ON TV We're taking you down... with girl power!!! Beth watches the group of magical girls defeat a man with rainbows as Dereck leaves his room and heads to the front door.
3. (Printed with the demonstration version of Fade In) DERECK Mooom, I'm going to Adam's - yes I'll be back by 11. muttering ( ) God, woman... Dereck leaves, shutting the door hard behind him. Beth jumps to her feet. She walks to Dereck's room and stops in his doorway, staring across the room to where Big Titty Anime Figurine sits on his shelf among various sports mementos and video game controllers. Beth starts to enter the room but loses her nerve and turns away. Begins to leave. BIG TITTY ANIME FIGURINE Please! Beth stops in her tracks, turning back to look through the doorway. BIG TITTY ANIME FIGURINE (cont'd) Please, you're the only one who can help me! Beth looks up and down the hall, then back into the room. She points a finger at herself. BIG TITTY ANIME FIGURINE (cont'd) Yes, you! Please, come closer... Beth walks into the room and approaches the figure on the shelf. The figure doesn't move but her one open eye seems to gleam with happiness as Beth approaches. BIG TITTY ANIME FIGURINE (cont'd) Please, I want to be free! Free! The figure begins to cry. Tears run down her unmoving face. BIG TITTY ANIME FIGURINE (cont'd) Please! I was so excited to finally escape the confines of my cardboard prison, only to end up... here! Beth looks around, taking in her brother's room. It is what one would expect from an 18-year old boy's room. She wrinkles her nose in disgust and looks back to the figure, nodding her understanding. BIG TITTY ANIME FIGURINE (cont'd) Please, you're the only one who can save me now-eep! 2.
4. (Printed with the demonstration version of Fade In) The figure abruptly stops talking as a shadow falls over the light from the doorway. MOM stands in the doorway, balancing a basket of laundry on her hip. MOM Hey - what are you doing in your brother's room? Beth scrambles to leave the room, rushing past mom without looking back. MOM (cont'd) Wha-? Oo-kay. Mom looks into the room at Big Titty Anime Figurine and frowns slightly, then rolls her eyes and shrugs before closing the door. INT. BETH'S ROOM - NIGHT Beth lays in bed, staring at the ceiling. Tosses and turns. Echoes of her earlier conversation with Big Titty Anime Figurine float through her head. She puts her pillow over her face to muffle a scream of frustration. Beth sits up in bed. Looks at her bedroom door. INT. HALLWAY - NIGHT Beth tiptoes down the hallway to stand in front of Dereck's bedroom door. Beth reaches for the doorknob and begins to slowly turn it. INT. BETH'S ROOM - MORNING Beth stares into her open backpack. Big Titty Anime Figurine is hidden among her notebooks. MOM Hurry up! You're going to be late for school! Beth quickly zips up her backpack and rushes down the hallway past Dereck's closed door. Puts a hand up to her face as she passes his room, blocking it from her sight. 3.
5. (Printed with the demonstration version of Fade In) INT. CAR - MORNING Beth sits in the backseat of the car, idly kicking her legs as she looks out the window. The car begins to merge onto the highway. Beth looks at her backpack in the seat next to her. She glances at the front seat where her mom is driving, then quietly and cautiously unzips her backpack and pulls out Big Titty Anime Figurine. She holds the figure in her hands and gazes at it intently. The figure seems to meet her gaze. Beth rolls down the car window. Takes one last look at the figure. Throws it out the window. The figure sails through the air. Birds fly through the sky behind it. BIG TITTY ANIME FIGURINE Thaaaannk yooouuuuu! Big Titty Anime Figurine falls into the grass on the side of the highway. It quickly disappears as the car continues speeding away. MOM Close your window, we're on the highway for crying out loud! Did you just throw something?! Come on, you know better than that! Beth ignores Mom's complaints and sits back in her seat. A satisfied smile grows on her face. THE END. 4.
