If you notice that your urinary ketone levels are uncommonly high, this may indicate that your body is especially low on insulin levels. Your body is being forced to process sugar, rather than fat as fuel for your body from day to day, or as part of your fasting efforts. Consult your physician if ketone levels continue to rise as this may be indicative of a condition called ketoacidosis.
Always remember why it is important to you to maintain adequate control over your diabetes. What are your hobbies? What would you undertake if you could? What's holding you back? How can you get around those barriers? Focus on the things which are high on your priority list and let these be the motivation in your diabetes management.
Understand that there is no single "magic number" when it comes to your A1C levels. However, you should aim to keep this number as low as possible in order to reduce your chances of developing complications from diabetes. Even slightly high A1C levels put you at considerable risk for stroke and cardiovascular problems.
