  3. How tooth gets infected ? The teeth roots consist of

nerves and blood vessels which provide teeth with oxygen and nutrients. When tooth decay from the outer layer of teeth is neglected it moves to the roots where nerves and blood vessels get infected. This causes pain and swelling and if not treated can cause damage to your tooth and to the surrounding bone. Hence root canal treatment is used to prevent your tooth from further damage.
