  1. Overview Co-op Placement Skyship Entertainment, Toronto, Ontario (in-house) Position Design

& Animation Intern Program Bachelor of Animation Class of 2026
  2. “What Self-Awareness Really Is (And How to Cultivate It)” Learning

Activity • Most people are not as self-aware or introspective as they think. • An undesired outcome of self-awareness is that it can lead to negative self-rumination which can be unproductive to finding out what your strengths and weaknesses actually are. • There are 4 archetypes of self-awareness, initially I fell into the introspector type but developed into the aware type the past year thanks to my mentors and third year group film. • The questions you ask to become more self aware should help you stay objective and give you the initiative to act on what you can do to change.
  3. Insights I’m glad to have grown into someone who is

more aware now even though I first identified with the introspector archetype. I used to spend a lot of time moping and wondering why things weren’t improving instead of focusing on what I could actually do to move forward and succeed. In terms of self-awareness and going forward, I hope to be more accountable for my own mistakes and not take everything so personally and to avoid enabling others who unknowingly keep themselves stuck in situations they don’t put much effort to change.
  4. Responsibility and Integrity Improvement • I think I’ve improved the

most with taking ownership of my actions and the work that I’ve done during this co-op term. This includes showing up to the office and to meetings on time, managing my workload effectively and holding myself accountable for my mistakes. • My main goal in developing this competency is to be seen as a reliable and dependable person. • Since the animation industry is so competitive, being a skilled artist is one thing when getting rehired but being someone who works well with others and who meets deadlines is another, which is why I focused on this competency than others.
  5. Pushing Past My Comfort Zone An important lesson I’ve learned

as someone who is a chronic quitter is literally not to quit when I feel inconvenienced. Even though I was contractually obliged and legally could not walk out, I had to remind myself often that giving up isn’t always the answer and that being patient leads to new perspectives. This co-op experience taught me a lot about resilience and staying committed while working a Monday-Friday from 9-6 with a 4 hour round-trip commute. It also made me realize that not a lot of people get this kind of opportunity so I should focus on what I have and make the most of it (Being employed in this economy.)
  6. Competencies To Develop Further • I’d like to strengthen my

self-awareness ability to become a better leader and become more adaptable. • To improve, I plan to actively seek feedback from others, continue taking initiative and offering my problem-solving abilities, staying open-minded and having a positive mindset. Even though these are easier said than done, the other artists working at Skyship were great examples for me to look up to.
  7. Overall, I hope to also not get too attached to

my work so I can receive feedback and challenges as someone who is flexible instead of frustrated. I want to be known as someone who is able to perform well under pressure and still be pleasant to work with so I hope to continue with this forward momentum. Conclusion
