  5. Critique – What Did We Do Well? • Most of

    the code was written by groups of 2-3 people working together. This avoided anyone being stuck for too long, ensured that multiple people understood each part and reduced time spent in testing. • The team consistently met on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. We started early and worked throughout the two weeks, so we didn’t run out of time. (Although, at times, we used most of the last minutes available.) • The team communicated pretty well, so we shared the work without duplication or gaps. • The team had an easy-going nature and they could make jokes and laugh at 9:45 on a Thursday when still working on the JSON submission file.
  6. Critique – What Did We Learn? • How to use

    about 500 different tools that most of us hadn’t used before. • How to reference examples, but be careful so they don’t lead to trouble. • How to partition a drive for swap space which helps when you are working with with an expansive data set. • How to host a website on Digital Ocean. • How Lil Wayne is a prolific artist with over 2000 entries in the full Spotify API. When does this guy ever rest?
  7. Critique – What Can We Do Better? •Improve retrieval performance

    on the main pillar lists. •Modify the padding to improve appearance when moving from full-screen to mobile. •Change the colors on the detail pages tables to a more interesting color pallet.
  8. Critique – What Puzzles Us? •Inner workings of python virtual

    environment •How paths variables are set inside virtual environment •Pros and cons of different tools and how to decide which ones to use •Elections
  9. BoilerPl8 Critique – What did they do well? Area Response

    Home Page • Excellent graphics • Clean overall look • Easy navigation Summary Pages • Immediate search works great Detail Pages • Colorful pictures in addition to data on each page Meet Us • Detailed information about each group member and all the relevant stats Site Search • Direct and partial hits work correctly, information well formatted. NOTE: Critique based on web site as of 5:00pm on Wednesday, November 16.
  10. BoilerPla8 Critique – What Did We Learn From Their Site?

    We learned how to make Creamy Smoked Salmon-Scrambled Eggs over Asiago Potato Pancakes
  11. BoilerPla8 Critique – What Can They Do Better? Area Response

    Home Page • The navigation buttons’ style was different than the rest of the home page. Summary Pages • The stark black and white is very functional, but doesn’t look so great and isn’t consistent with the colorful home page. • The Summary Pages don’t indicate when a word can be clicked on to get to a Detail Page. Detail Page - Recipe • Steps could be formatted in a more readable style. • The pictures should be formatted consistently. • Ingredients usually come before steps, from left->right and top->bottom. • Heading 1 makes sense for the name of the recipe, but is used in several inconsistent places. Detail Page - Cuisine • The detail page for each cuisine seems like an extra feature not required by the specs. It’s formatted oddly and the maps are incorrect. Detail Page - Ingredients • The detail page for each ingredient is formatted oddly. • The “Recipes In” text doesn’t display.
  12. BoilerPl8 Critique – What Puzzles Us About Their Site? Area

    Response Site • Each summary page has a search for the given pillar, but there isn’t an overall site search on the home page. API • Why do some of the recipes not include the number of steps? • Why are some of the recipe ingredients that display on the web page not listed when accessing the API?
  13. BoilerPl8 API Incorporation Difficulty Low: Ingredients <= 5 && Steps

    <= 4 High: Ingredients > 13 && Steps > 7 Medium: everything else
